Pip stress

Hi Nina,

My uncle gets attendance allowance and for him it was so easy to get. I dont know about the difference in payments or about the mobility component which if you claim now, would you lose that with the attendance allowance. That said it may be alot less stressful than pip.

Christine

Nina I only know that you’ll lose your mobility component with attendance allowance, only those who were on DLA prior to pension continue to get it. That I only know due to mum and dad’s situation, they don’t qualify though dad’s very disabled. He was only entitled to a blue badge, no adapted vehicle. Something to consider?

Nina dont stress about PIP. I am 65 in 2 months. I was told the people in our age group, are at the back of the list.

I got the dreaded envelope about 2 weeks ago, DWP on the back, my heart sank. When i opened it, it was just the standard letter saying i was in receipt of DLA etc etc, and this letter is proof of that if i need to apply for any other benefits. Then the page about if your condition changes and you feel you need more you can now apply for PIP. (No thanks lol even though my condition has worsened and i now have a label of PPMS). That was it PHEW
I get my award indefinately and that was BEFORE I WAS DIAGNOSED.

I get Direct Payments at the moment and a personal assistant. I have had it for 6 years. If people think applying for PIP is rough the yearly assessments i have had to have for this money has been horrendous. The social services are here for nearly 3 hours. Every year i expected to loose my DP money but instead it was increased my hours that is. I get 10 hours a week now, and it helps me to hire someone to go out.

A lot of people dont seem to realise this money is there.

One of the questions asked by the social services representative was hobbies, do i go out, how do i go out, do i feel safe etc. It is to find out if you are isolated or depressed etc.

Anyway when i went for my DLA i never thought i would get it i never did. I was not diagnosed with anything at the time, just neurological condition un diagnosed but i got it actually the doctor i saw at my home said she would be amazed if i wasnt finally diagnosed with MS she was spot on.

If i do get the dreaded letter well what will be will be, if i keep it so be it, if i dont, well we will have to manage. I have never used it for housekeeping, only to help me get about and to pay for other things like a dog walker, a gardener, and a cleaner.

I refuse to let it stress me out. Life is way to short for that.

Nina you cant apply for Attendance Allowance if you are in receipt of DLA, only if you loose it, so dont stress hunny if we do loose our DLA we can at least apply for AA instead. So just sit tight for now.

People who dont get direct payments should perhaps enquire after it, as really they have proof of all the questions the PIP people ask of you. You just ring your local adult social services and ask for an assessment.

Thanks for all the information girls!

I’m obviously just panicking at the thought
must remember mindful ness next time I start doing that!

I will wait patiently for the letter and see what happens!

Take Care,

PIP is a nightmare, now going to Tribunal as this is the 2nd time I’ve been turned down, that was even with a letter from MS Nurse.

Now got a letter from neurologist & the back up from Citizens Advice.

Before anyone goes read the point scoring details on www.benefitsandwork.co.uk â€ș pip-points OR ask MS Nurse for scoring details.

Good Luck x

Hi,

Iv requested a copy of the report which they say is in the post.

It still shocks me when people with conditions such as ms get turned down especially when you have written evidence of your condition. I know of several people who had recieved a pip award with no trouble and with conditions that do not affect daily living in the same way as ms can.

I dont know yet which way my claim will be but i feel i could have explained things alot better.

Have you any idea why you didnt get enough points for an award.

Christine

Cath I do that all the time blush

I was reading an old blog post tonight and notice several mistakes spellchecker had inserted I keep meaning to write my posts in word before transferring them but I never do.
