People on some means tested benefits get free treatment. Those on DLA/PIP get treatment at a reduced cost although I don’t know by how much it is reduced.
You live within the catchment area of a PDSA Pet Practice
You will be eligible to register one pet for this service if you are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:
Housing Benefit (means-tested help with your rent)
Council Tax Support/Reduction Scheme (means-tested help with your Council Tax liability)
Universal Credit with a housing element
In smaller towns and communities PDSA has arranged for over 380 local private veterinary practices to provide PDSA-funded treatment on its behalf - these are called PDSA Pet Practices.
Please look at the map below which shows your local PDSA Pet Practices.
How can I register for PDSA-funded help for my pet for the future?
Contact your nearest PDSA Pet Practice to discuss registration. The contact information is available on the map section below.
Eligible pet owners must pre-register their pet with a PDSA Pet Practice in order to obtain PDSA-funded treatment.
Provided the PDSA Pet Practice can accept you as a client, you will be given an application form to complete.
Help us to help pets
PDSA does not receive any money from the HM Government or National Lottery funding. Every penny comes from public donations. To help us continue our service, we ask that all pet owners give a donation to PDSA that reflects the cost of their pet’s treatment. We are grateful for any donation that you can afford to give.
Need to know more?

Possibly the reduced fees are available to those that live in the catchment area of a PDSA hospital???
This was taken from the PDSA site after I’d put my postcode in.

PDSA has 48 Pet Hospitals around the UK providing medical and surgical veterinary care for sick and injured pets. They are staffed by highly qualified and experienced PDSA vets and nurses.
It seems to be effected by how close you are to a PDSA Pet Practice or a Pet Hospital, 2 different things. might talk to our vet about it but wouldn’t have made a difference with this surgery sadly since we are not registered with them but might help if anything happens in the future (hopefully not tho!).
I live in larkhall Lanarkshire my dog a a lump growing fast on his foot and I am on benefits but don’t no if any PDSA practice do help were i live , anyone help me please on info
The scheme has been changed by the PDSA. Basically you pay £4.50/month or £56 as a one off payment which entitles your pet to a booster jab one free check up and 20% off vet bills for a year.
Obviously you need to find a vet in your locality operating the scheme as many vets now do their own (more expensive). If you live near a PDSA hospital then obviously more help available there.
