Pain in lower abdomen

Hi there

I’m a 64 year old woman and I was diagnosed with RRMS 5 years ago.

Ive been fairly lucky as after the initial symptoms of completely numb legs and being unable to walk, which resolved in around 6 to 8 weeks, I haven’t had a relapse.

However, over the last 6 months I’ve been experiencing lower groin and abdominal pain along with frequency of urination at night and urgency at times.

Ive seen GP and had urine tests and a scan…all normal.

This weekend I found myself in severe pain affecting bowels as well. I also had a high temperature which resolved with paracetamol.
Saw emergency GP today who says its not a UTI . He has taken bloods and says to see own GP.

Has anyone here suffered with similar? Could this be MS related?

Thank you…:slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @Midge . Sorry to hear of your problems. I am absolutely not a medic but the fact that you have experienced a high temperature plus the severe pain makes me think this has little or nothing to do with MS . Certainly, if it happened to me I would be off to the GP or A&E.

I hope the cause is identified and treated soon!

Thanks for replying.

Been to GP. They want repeat blood tests next week.

I’m not too worried about the high temp as that passed quickly but the lower abdo pains are concerning me. Been going on for few months on and off now.

Hopefully I can get it sorted soon.

Best wishes.

I’m glad you’re seen the GP. Folks at our age shouldn’t assume that things are MS. Not at any age, but particularly not at ours!

Sorry you’re going through this. I haven’t experienced it myself, but it sounds really uncomfortable. Hopefully the blood tests give some answers, and it may be worth discussing with your MS nurse or neurologist as well. Wishing you all the best and hoping you get some relief soon.
