oxygen therapy

Evening all - after some thought and research booked in to start oxygen therapy on monday there seems to be both good and bad reviews on just wondering whats yours and if anyone does it on here? Xx

Hi, I am doing it right now! Its the 2nd time I have hired the machine and do it for approx 3 times a day for 10 mins. Or maybe 4 actually. It makes me feel like I am doing something to help myself, which is a good thing, and last year I was able to go to a theme park for the day whilst I was using it when normally I would have been too exhausted.

I hav also booked it for another 2 months later in the year. I hope you get on well with yours x

Excellent news for you. There is a ms centre near me that has the chamber which ive booked in for x

Same here! I havent been yet but look forward to hearing how it goes x

Hi all I’ve been looking into it but it a lot of travelling Where can you hire machines? Ats they the same as the chambers ?

Im very fortunate we have 1 very close by. I hadnt heard of hiring the machines until morereasons replied to me. The main difference is the chambers are pressurised its that and being in a confined space im dreading lol but welling to give anything a try x

Info if ayone wants details:

I hire it from Mercia MS Therapy Centre in Coventry. Theres a waiting list as they cost about £8k each, so everyone hires them instead of owns them. It cost £20 a month, with a returnable deposit

I have lived here in the midlands for over 7 years, had ms for over 10, and no one told me about this facility, I found it randomly myself by googling. I am a little surprised no one at hospital told me that the centre even existed, thats why I have passed this info on in case its any help, please do not think I have any affiliation to this centre/charity apart from using it. Unfortunatly its a bit of a drive for me or I would use it more

Unfortunately I’m in the north east of Scotland x

I have HBOT, which I’m not sure is the same thing that morereasons is talking about. HBOT involves having oxygen in a decompression chamber and I can’t see how you could hire that.

HBOT doesn’t work for everybody (what does?), I find I have more energy afterwards and my bladder is a better bahaved. It is not a cure, and I think it is important to have realistic expectations.

I have a lot of time for the MS Therapy Centre where I go for the HBOT. They offer free cups of tea and companionship to all, whether they are there for HBOT or not. They also offer a range of treatments/therapies (physio, reflexology, counselling, hot stones, yoga to name but a few) at very competitive prices.

@misspitstop, I wasn’t over keen on the chamber at first because it did seem very claustophobic, take in a good book and/or iPod and the time will soon pass.

Hi,

Has anyone tried the ’ airnergy’ machine. Some MS centres hire this out. They cost about £3000. Look on their website and Dr Chris Steel does a video on it. I sent of for the details and in their reviews there were a lot of people with COPD and fibromyaliga swear by it. It says that people with MS have benefit too.

i used to go for HBOT (hyper barric oxygen therapy) but for the last 3 months i’ve had a constant sniffle which would mean HBOT would be painful.

i can have the pressure in my sinuses balanced by hopi ear candling, which is also available at the ms therapy centre, costing £10.

so going to have my ears candled and start going again.

hope you enjoy it

Thank you so much for your replies and advice. I know its not a cure but if it can help me with my symptoms in anyway im giving it ago could definitely do with the extra enery. I will let you all know how it goes xx
