Oops had a fall.

It was my own fault I have leg braces fitted now to correct my feet and Heather struggles to put shoes on over them so yesterday I said leave my shoes off. I was in the bathroom and ended up face planting the floor and both legs a obscure angles. Luckily our neighbour was home and after much effort got me up and into bed. I am still here in bed and have slept nearly all day. Our eldest daughter came in and we had curry earlier and pretty soon I will be asleep again. I will try and get up tomorrow and see how my legs are. Both knees hurt and one is swollen, Heather keeps saying phone the GP but what can they tell me that we don’t know already?

Night from a wet Margate

Oh dear Don.

Speaking as an experienced faller (I was born within the sound of the hoof-beats of Aintree Racecourse-useless information), I can feel your awkwardness and post fall pain. Curry is a brilliant medicine. Tonight I had the second half of a lamb shank with all the usual spices plus a good slug of tamarind done all day yesterday in the slow cooker. To say the meat fell off the bone is an understatement. When I took the lid off, the bone was personally brushing the last bits of meat off. “What’s afoot?” I asked. The bone rolled its eyes.

Do you have the lifeline connection? It’s helped me since I’ve been on my own at least six times. I know you have your lovely wife but sometimes it’s easier to get the cavalry in. On a completely different tack; typical MS tangental course, I cannot believe that the spell checker has underlined the word connection. So now I’m going to really upset it. CONNECTION CONNECTION CONNECTION. Now that’s got the grammar police after me.

I hope you are feeling less bruised soon.

Best wishes, Steve. An American election free zone.

Cheers Steve, it’s not hurting anywhere as much today. I have lifeline and Heather always puts it on me if she goes out. I am expecting some colourful bruises when my body decides to let them appear.

Hope you’re feeling better now Don? I had a fall on Sunday…one minute all was well and the next I was in a heap on the bedroom floor…not really sure if I tripped over my own feet or just missed my footing but the outcome was a broken big toe! Ouch!!

take care,

I hope that you are okay Don, I fall everyday but i’m not fragile, i don’t break anything and and still get up again with help from the furniture, i fell outside on Tuesday and that was embarrassing i was trying to get into the car and my “monkey bars” had abruptly ended the car is on a slope i cant do slopes and it was parked just a bit too far for me to launch myself at it anyway i was okay my Carer helped me up, it really hurts when you fall on gravel.

Oh! The dreaded falls. Aren’t they the pits. You just get your confidence back then wham! There it is gone again in a heartbeat.

Somehow we get ourselves up, dust ourselves down until the next time. Luckily I’ve got a bit of padding or strong bones or both

so I have never had a broken bone, yet!!! and I have had some spectacular falls.

Everyone keep safe we are all fall warriors on here.

The only plus side to being barely able to stand at the moment means there’s less time I’m likely to fall!

Hope you’re ok Hoppity

Good morning hoppity and Nina. Hope you’re both ok. Having to be lifted up isn’t nice and the bits that hurt the most don’t usually bruise in my experience - but we know they still hurt and hope you’re not too uncomfortable. Here’s to weebles, who apparently wobble but don’t fall down. Oh to be a weeble xxx

Oh weebles now if I remember they had round bottoms … I am turning into a weeble

Thanks Pam, it’s a little less painful now.

Take Care,

Nina xx

Sorry to hear about your face plant, it always happens so quickly, and the impact on confidence is nasty. There is a fine line between understanding our added vulnerability and giving in to it. I have one of the community link alarm bracelets which supplements my confidence. I hope any soreness and bruising are better soon.
