What a good thread this is turning out to be - must admit I’d assumed the same as Tree!
Re my ‘cooking, singing and dancing’ - I may have exaggerated a wee bit - cooking, caterwauling and swaying may be a more apt description!!
I still love it anyway
Dx
I respect your privacy greatly so am busy wondering what STEPS we should take to ensure we don’t pry too far?
B*gger - does that mean no?!!
I like Brendan too, he’s probably my 3rd favourite Strictly pro.
Landmark Trust essentially takes buildings of interest that are in danger of being left to ruin, and turns them into holiday lets. The nature of the buildings means they’re often not good for anyone with mobility issues (steep, spiral staircases and things like that), although one of their most recent properties has disabled access (Astley Castle). My favourite so far is probably Bath Tower, it was just so much fun entering it from the big door at the bottom of the tower. One of the brilliant things about them is that they all have log books where people write about their stay - some of the entries contain amazing art work and some entries are just funny - they’re often a real treat to read through. If nothing else, it’s always fun to be able to tell people you stayed in a tower/mine/castle/water tower!
Yes, that means no. But it made me laugh to think I’d gone from being Mrs Haliwell, to Mrs Steps. My hubby says at least caterwauling would be an improvement on the noise that comes from my vocal cords!! He, being a really good singer, is qualified to pass comment of course!! Thanks Dagny…we are going to investigate further. Sounds lovely.
michelle heaton liberty x? ha ha, My favourite thing to do is chill by side of pool with a cocktail to, I’m also excited for christmas love seeing the children open their pressies
“xtraordinary” guess!!!
Are you sure about the 90s? Might it be the 00s? LibertyX were 00s as were many ‘stars’ ! ??
I love a challenge - they make me ‘truly happy’!! x
Hubby and I honeymooned in Kefalonia. Lovely memories
Kx
Did you read Captain Corelli’s Mandolin whilst you were there, like a typecast tourist? I did!
Lovely Island.
I read it every time we go…and cry every time too. The memorial to the 6000 Italian soldiers that were massacred there in one of the most moving places that I have ever been. Especially if viewed after visiting the killing fields and the pits that they were literally dumped into. I lay flowers every time. Man’s inhumanity to man… It really is beautiful. Of all the Greek Islands, it is idyllic. Especially Fiskardo. And especially if you like people spotting.
I think we went to Lassi (also like typical tourists I guess!) but we did go on a tour and I’m wondering if Fiskardo was our final stop - is there a harbour where the fish are literally jumping up to nibble food out of your hands? x
It could be…but it could also be Assos…with the Castle at the top? Fiskardo is known by the multitude of “boats”, more like super yachts. And a tiny little lighthouse?
I’m afraid I can’t remember - I just know we went to the top of the island - it was 12 years ago and I spent most of the trip breastfeeding Izzy who was 8 months old and suddenly learnt to crawl next to the swimming pool!! My son was 5 and anaphylactic to milk etc then so feeding him out there was a nightmare. Oh memories memories!
You have my hubby’s sympathy…I learnt to crawl next to the pool too, after my right leg completely failed one day whilst walking around it!! His was the whitest tan I’ve ever seen. And he moved off that sunbed pretty damn quick too!!
I love that book and the film x
My favourite scene is the beach scene where Captain Corelli is teaching the Italians to sing in a choir. We always have a day at “that” beach. And as we walk onto the beach, belt out at the top of our voices, la la la…I think it’s something from La Traviata. Normally the beach is quiet but this year there was a coach load of Americans who joined in, took photo’s and gave us a round of applause!!! It was soul liftingly glorious. And a good job they were obviously mandolin fans…otherwise we would have been taken away to rot in some Greek institution!! Great memories.
Think I need to come on holiday with you!! How fantastic, so much fun - go girl…the Americans joining in is just fab, bet you made their day xx
I love to fall in love and I very much miss being in love.
