Hi Amanda
I take magnesium pills for Restless Leg Syndrome. A pill in the evening quickly sorts it out for me. Other prescription drugs you can get for spasms are things like baclofen, gabapentin or pregabalin.
Hope you find the right thing to do the trick!
Dan
Hi Dan Do you need a prescription for magnesium, or can you get them in a chemist? I need to try them X
No, it’s just a supplement so somewhere like Holland & Barrett or online is fine. Check how much is in the pills though, as a lot of multivitamin pills contain it but only in small amounts. The ones I have are 50-100% of your RDA.
Hope it works!
Dan
Thanks Dan, I will get some and see how it goes x
can anyone tell me if magnesium can be taken on top of lots of pain meds. i’ll check with a pharmacist too, but i wondered if it was worth pursuing, i get horrible jolts in my legs, like electrical charges making my legs jump, which i hate and i take baclofen and pregabalin, among other pain meds.
thanks,
wendy x
Hi Wendy
I don’t see why not - I take magnesium on top of baclofen & gabapentin and haven’t noticed any problems. I only use it to treat the restlessness as & when I get it though, rather than spasms, so don’t know if it’d help with that. Give it a go though & see how you get on with it.
Good luck
Dan
