Hi all. Im finding it hard to tell if what im feeling in my arms is numbness or weakness. They feel weak but they are not. They feel numb but i can still feel. Can anyone help me with this one? Can anyone help me with this one? The difference? Thank you x
I don’t know, but I certainly recognise the strange feeling when the muscles seem to be working OK, but the skin surface feels as though the limb has been shrink-wrapped in thick plastic. In my case, when the MS is active it tends to be doing bits of both, although the motor stuff is usually much more alarming than the sensory stuff - that I can cope with as long as it doesn’t hurt. I also think it can get a bit muddled where legs are concerned. Walking can feel odd even if there isn’t any obvious loss of strength, because (I think) if there is a lot of numbness, the automatic feedback loops that tell you where bits of you are in space are compromised, so you don’t automatically adjust position/balance/trajectory the way you would normally.
