night sweats so bad go through 3 pillows

Hello my name is julie my husband gets this sweat problem happerns only at night he sweats so bad from his head it goes through three pillows i regularly have to wash them otherwise they would stink. Is this common with ms he also gets one arm pit that sweats really bad too only one side.Ms has some strange symptoms lol .jue

Hi Julie, I noticed that you posted also about your husbands weight loss too. I think that the weight loss and night sweats are symtpoms of something other than the MS. He should really go to doctors and get this checked out.

Hi Julie

This is interesting as I’ve been having night sweats for many years now, we (rather, I!) get through lots of pillows. Often my head is covered in sweat and the pillow is drenched but the rest of my body is not all sweaty.

I’m vulnerable to being too warm, but even when it’s been cold I still sweat.

All those nasty yellowish-puddle type stains on the pillow do, as you suggest, begin to humm after a while. IKEA and TESCOS sell decent, pretty cheap pillows.

Once I’m diagnosed I shall be sure to ask the neuro about this.

I tend to sweat a lot during the night too. My partner is always commenting on how sweaty I am in the morning! I wake up covered in so much sweat some mornings, that when I stand up it runs down my chest and into my belly button :frowning: not the most glam symptom x

Hi Julie,

I’m with Moyna on this, your husband really should visit his gp and get it checked out as there must be something causing him to sweat in this way. There could be numerous reasons for this.

May seem strange but i would get checked out for a yeast infection. Check the symptoms with regards to candida.

Hi everyone its julie again thanks for all input he has an apointment at hospital early april and i will ask the consultant about the night sweats clucker pigeon yes them yellow stains are always on his pillows and they stink LOL.The tremors are getting worse were only on right side of his body now his left hand is starting to shake too its spreading which is quite worrying as he has been diagnosed by one neurologist at one hospital in leicester but is waiting to see another neurologist at other hospital to talk about it more, and possible treatment and see ms nurses.I seen his mri scan and his first neurologist shown me the white spots and abnormal areas on brain scan.He had been having bladder problems for ages and vision problems and weightloss the tremors started later with confusion, forgetfullness, doublevision ,speach problems the list goes on lol. We have a laugh about speach problems as he mixes stuff up all the time and it comes out quite funny sometimes. xx julie

Anybody out there having night sweats please post as trying to find out how many people have these funnysweats and have sweat soaked pillows ands sheets xxx julie

Just to help your count, Julie.

Night sweats? Yes, erratically, not related to ambient temperature at all.
Chest only.
Sometimes enough to wet PJ jacket, sometimes it’s just a feeling of dampness.
Could be at 3am or at 5am (usual times to wake up and fumble my way to the loo). Could be the reverse, but rarely both.
Could be on a cold night or a warm one.

Very annoying though.

Geoff

My husband says it is the same it can be cold and he is still sweating it only ever happerns at night in the day he is really cold and never sweats, strange stuff . Thanks geoff x julie

I am wondering could these sweat problems be to to do with lying down some how? .As in the day he doesnt really sweat in fact during the day he feels cold.Does anyone who gets night sweats sweat during the day or only wile lying down? Does this seem possible.

Im freezing during the day. So much so, i keep my jacket on until i get in the bath. Night time though it drips off me. Could he be lying on a nerve?

[/quote] Yes i was wondering if there was a logical reason and if people who sweat at night are cold during the day it could be pressure on a nerve as puzzled why is he only sweating at night. xx julie

I get night sweats on and off when I waken up in what feels like a puddle from head to chest…don’t know if it’s related to my ms or not Baz

Some people say it is, some people they arnt sure,I think it maybe as i have been with my husband 20 years and have never noticed it before. The excessive night sweats started about same time as some other symptoms started.Someone suggested if the inflammation was in the preoptic area of the brain that controls body temprature it could be possible. If that was the case why would sweating be only a problem at night wile in bed THIS REALLY PUZZLES ME I AM GOING TO ASK THE NEUROLOGIST WHEN WE SEE HIM. X julie

Hi I also have night sweats and have lost weight, since I had my daughter who is now 15 months old, I have been tested and seen by various consultants for everything from thyroid to cancer all tests came back clear (which is good to know) and they couldn’t find a cause as to why the sweating only happens at night. I then got referred to the Endocrine department and after more tests they said that they still don’t know, they said that it’s possible that it’s to do with having MS, but they have referred me to the Dermatology department now, not sure why. If anyone has any solutions to stop the sweating, please let me know as going through 3 t-shirts a night for a year now is just not funny.

Hi I know this post is very old but I just wanted to say I’ve not been diagnosed yet but along with neuropathy and everything else too many symptoms to list! I’ve been having horrible night sweats for past 6 years which wakes me most nights approx 3 times and have to change whole bed, I too have had all blood tests and still no answers imo it’s worse than pain due to lack of sleep making me a nightmare to live with! Did original posters husband ever get any answers? Thanks

I am newly diagnosed but have suffered head sweats at night for a long time but since it is now progressive they have been worse is this normal?
