Hi
For the past week I have had a weird sensation on my right hand side where my rib cage is when I touch it it feels numb, when I move it goes all tingly and there also is some pain there I was wondering if any one has had anything similiar or knows anything about it, I just find it weird only being at that point, any help would be great
Thanks
Sherrie
Hi Sherrie,
Abnormal sensations are one of the commonest symptoms of MS. I would think almost all MSers have had them at some point. I don’t think there’s any special significance to where it is, as this varies for everyone, and depends on where the area of damage has occurred in the brain or spinal cord (which is random). I’ve had most of my lower body go numb. Ranging to just a single finger or single toe, or an isolated patch on my face.
Paradoxically, the same part can feel both numb and painful.
Technically, it’s a relapse, however small the affected area. So you might want to get it on your medical records, especially if you’re someone who has not so far qualified for DMDs. However, if it’s a non-disabling relapse, and just the small patch affected, it probably won’t be regarded as particularly “clinically significant”, anyway.

I was numb from the chest bone all thw way down to my toes. This started Oct 12 and most came back but not my front legs.
My Neuro is sending me for an MRI scan as he can see that all my injections are not working anymore and is planing to put me on something stronger then Interferon with my secondry MS it is needed now.
I hope you get better, it is always best to update all problems to your MS nurse asap incase there is something that needs looking into x
