New symptom without relapse?

If I do have MS, I believe I have come out the other side of a 3 month relapse as I’m feeling much better in myself, although still tired, have pains, pins and needles in legs and feet and mobility still bad so I’m presuming these problems will be with me from now on.

however, since Sunday night, I have also started getting pins and needles in my hands and lower arms. Is it possible to have symptoms start after a relapse? During the ending of one? Could I still be relapsing? I’ve not done anything that could be the cause of it. Haven’t banged my arms or anything like that

It would be too early to assume no further improvement. Recovery from an MS relapse can take ages. If that’s what you’ve had, you have every reason to hope for further improvement as your body heals.

Yes to all of the above. My worst times have been when relapses have come in waves with no let-up for many months - as one problem starts to recede, the next wave is peaking and the one behind is tuning up.

Those bad times are (fingers crossed) a distant memory, as MS drugs have since been keeping my relapses at bay. Even if you did turn out to have MS, what is happening now wouldn’t set the tone from now on.

So does that mean there’s a good chance I may be able to walk normally again? Or is it a case of what damage is done, is done?

My point is that you shouldn’t yet be assuming (if you do have RRMS) that ANY damage is permanent because you don’t know yet.

Some relapses resolve completely (or completely enough to restore full function) either fast or slowly; some resolve a bit and no further, leaving some permanent damage. Only time (an un-guessable amount of it, I’m afraid) will tell.

Don’t assume that what you’re stuck with now is what you’ll be stuck with for ever.

Thanks Alison. There’s so much to it I’m finding it hard to understand it all!
