Neurologist appointment

Hi. Around a month ago I had an MRI scan after a trip to the ambulatory ward at my local hospital after losing feeling in both my hands. After the doc heard all the symptoms i had been having I got a ct scan and then the mri scan as well as multiple blood tests to rule out a few different things including Ms. I received a letter on Friday informing me I have a neurologist appointment which by the time it comes round will be 6 weeks since my mri without any results. I’m wondering if that’s a normal waiting time and whether or not because I’ve waited this long the no news is good news saying is true and that if it was something major I would have heard by now.

hi

i’m afraid that the waiting time appears to be the norm.

focus on the light at the end of the tunnel - your appointment with a neuro.

try not to stress about it because stress makes everything worse.

Hi,

To be honest, many people would see 6 weeks to be a short wait. Often it can take a lot longer. I would take it that they’ve not found a gigantic brain tumour as a result of the scan (you’d hope that would mean a much quicker response), but as to whether they’ve found evidence of lesions maybe leading to a diagnosis of MS, that in and of itself wouldn’t necessarily be cause for a very quick appointment.

I hope the next few weeks go by quickly and that any symptoms that you had originally have either already passed or will pass asap.
