I have written everything down , what sort of questions should I ask him/her?

Thanks Andy

Hi Andy Good luck tomorrow. Please let us know how you get on. As far as asking questions are concerned, if you don’t understand anything he does or says, ask him to explain these things. Teresa xx

Thanks Teresa Sure will, thanks for your answer and support

big hugs ( not MS ones) Andy xx

Hi Andy,

Just popped in to say good luck for tomorrow, do let us know how you get on. You say you’ve written down what has been affecting you, that’s good but don’t hand the list over, read out what you want to say or they might just pass over some of it. State the worst thing that affects you most and go from there. It’s not as bad as you imagine it will be. I shouldn’t say this but I will, whenever I’m in awe of somone I imagine them sitting on the loo, it then reminds me that after all they are human!!!

Very best wishes

Janet

Hi Andy

Hope the appointment goes well.

It is a good idea to take someone with you if you can as it’s good to have two pairs of ears so you don’t get confused as you are nervous. My hubby always tags along with me.

Writing any questions down that you have is a good idea.

If you are not diagnosed then it’s a good idea to write down a list of symptoms you have now and have had previously. When you had the symptoms and how long they lasted.

A brief outline of whats been happening can help the neuro get good background information.

Try not to worry too much.

Best wishes

Hello All sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to you all, my brother has been really ill after being diagnosed with bowel and liver cancer, so my times been precious, and makes me feel my problems are little compared to him, he has an oncology appointment tomorrow,

Ok onto my Neuro appointment, first thing must say he looked a bit like professor leyton, very prim and proper, and a bit wierd

Checked Balannce eyes closed, Bad but he did say I recovererd ok , walking straight line balance Nearly fell over, Babinsky test tested positive my toes point upwards, refelxes ok I think, Pins and needles in legs and burning pain he tried to say it was the way i sit !!!, Gait not good , eyes did not comment, tremors couldn’t touch his fingers, Medication is to be increased for “Sitting pain

the neuro did other tests , did also mention years ago I was in an workplace accident and breathed in HCN gas to me you and the laymen it’s Cyanide Gas, I have had extremly bad back pain . also in my hips this week, still getting burning pains in my flaming legs even sitting like the neuro said , get it standing and laying in bed, I cannot stand wearing trousers at times feels like my legs on fire.

I have researched HCN Gas Apparantly it attacks the CNS , I have to have a M.R.I. in four weeks then another appointment with professor leyton

Wish me well ! …Andy

Poison gas can do all sorts of nasty things to the nervous system

I hope they work it all out very soon!

Thanks Karen xx

Hi Andy

So sorry to hear about your brother - I agree it really does put things in perspective when you see other people worse off. Hope he gets the treatment he needs so that he can be on the mend soon.

Good news about your neuro review in that you are being sent for an MRI. It certainly sounds like the Cyanide gas maybe a posibility in the equation. I hope they manage to get to the bottom of whats happening soon.

Hi Andy Glad to hear back from you. So sorry about your brother and as Reemz said, it certainly puts things into perspective. Sounds like the neuro was quite thorough and also that the cyanide gas could be linked to your problems. Hope they can help you and improve things for you soon. Teresa xx

Hi All I am amazed I actually got an appointment for the 7th of December for scans

MRI Head

MRI Cervical

MRI thoracic , so basically the whole works, my brother was told his C was inoperable as it has spread to his pancreas and is terminal, they have given him a year, why does it always happen to the good guys?

thanks for all your comments, Andy x

Hi Andy,

Pleased that at last you’ll be getting tested.

Hello again teresa,

yes maybe I might get some answers once the full MRI has been done, apparantly the Neuro appointment will

be about 2 weeks after, my main concern is the Cyanide poisening and what is going on, all I can find is

it can leave you with Parkinsons like symptoms later in life…we will see

All the best and thank you

Andy

Hi Andy x so sorry to hear about your brother - it’s heartbreaking x

Don’t feel bad about your own issues though - it does put things in perspective but doesn’t diminish the fact that you are also suffereing - so be kind to yourself and look after yourself too x Hope the MRI’s and subsequent appointment will give you some answers and you can get some help with your symptoms xxjenxx
