Need to stop worrying!

Actually, I’ve manage not to worry so much this past week, but I’m now back to worrying again! I kind of wish my doctor had never suggested this “might be” ms. I’ve somehow got it into my head that that is probably what he thinks it is, partly because of the way he suggested it more than once, and that he wasn’t keen on my explanations (neck problem, migraine related)! He didn’t exactly poo poo them but he did insist that I needed to see a neuro as “it could be ms”. In a way I’m glad, glad to be taken seriously, glad to get access to a specialist. However, now my mind is playing tricks. I notice every word I don’t say correctly, maybe stress is causing me to muddle words at times, I don’t know. All I know is when I’m not thinking about it, I come out with random words (like calling a child Jelly at school, I am SO glad she’s a confident girl and not at all overweight! That could have been rather difficult there). The trouble is now sometimes I think about it too. I also have difficulty writing, typing is fine, thank goodness for spellcheck, but I’ve gone more dyslexic I’m sure, and will write “I” instead of eye, but then immediately notice. Weird. Is it just noticing more, I don’t know. Then today I’ve got pain in my ribs, just under where my bra would be, it really hurts, goes round my back at times, and is uncomfortable to breath at times, though I can breath. I’ve had this before. Have I just overdone something or is it ms? Oh btw, I’m not asking anyone to actually answer these questions, just sharing where my mind is taking me! Today, also I notice a tremor when trying to do craft stuff at a club. Somehow my hands wouldn’t co-operate, yet I could do it, it felt awkward and weird. Just so many random symptoms, then I think back, that long period of loose stools, gastro could find nothing, now resolved itself, if anything I’m a bit the other way. I’m just putting everything down to possible ms right now, and I’m sure it’s not helping me! Maybe I’m just imagining the whole thing anyway! Faith

Hi Faith, our minds do play tricks on us and just one particular word can conjure up all sorts of things and we find ourselves acting in a way we dont normally act.

I am the same…I was in limbo for years, with very typical PPS like symptoms. I saw many different neuros and had every test going, some more than just once.

Then I was wrongly diagnosed with PPMS for 11 years!

Back in limbo for a while, then told i had a hereditary desease, but it cant be proved. So after 16 yars, I still dont know why I cant walk!

Try to be calm and wait for the neuro appointment…I know thats easy to say, but its all you can do really.

It could be loads of things Faith, even a vitamin deficiency (B12 deficiency can cause all sorts of neuro problems unless it’s found and treated). I can’t tell you not to worry, as that would make me a hypocrite (lol), but it really won’t help. I find that distraction helps for me, especially when I’m pre-menstrual and my mind goes into a spin.

The good thing is that when you see the neuro, he will try to rule out MS by testing you for lots of other things too (as well as MS stuff). Fingers crossed that it will be something ‘fixable’, but you know where we are, so keep us posted eh?

Mags  xx

Thanks for the replies peeps, for a while it seemed as if I wasn’t going to get any, sometimes it’s just nice to know it’s been read, so I really appreciate it that you took time to reply. When I saw the GP I did say to him that maybe it was due to vitamin b12 issues, but apparently these were checked in recent routine blood tests and were fine, so I know it’s not that :frowning: I find the mind thing worse when I’m tired. Woke this morning with tingling in one hand, (aswell as a massive headache) playing clarinet this morning at church, and found it hard not to notice the tingling, the other hand later joined in! I’m exhausted too, for a long time now I find if I do a lot, I end up really tired. I’m single with no kids, and just don’t get how people manage work AND take care of kids, a few busy days and I kind of suddenly find I’m tired and then I get teary with tiredness, plus head goes to all the wrong places! Funny thing is, often when I’m actually being busy I don’t notice, it’s when I stop, or the next day I’ve had enough. It’s a beautiful day today, I wanna go out somewhere, but just don’t have the energy this afternoon. Anyway, this is turning into another moan! Maybe it’s time for a sleep. Faith

I think when we are busy, we can forget stuff like eating, drinking, going ot the loo, our various aches and pains, bills etc…then when we stop we do realise we may have over done it…then all the problems return to our less busy minds.

Human nature innit?

Ummmm, not sure I ever forget eating  Would be kinda helpful if it did once in a while! Yes, I agree though, when busy it’s easier to focus on other stuff. Then when we stop, it all comes flooding back!

Poll sums it up well! I think it helps to pace yourself & please don’t feel guilty if after you’ve ridden out the busy “storm” you need to rest & catch yourself up. It sounds like you’re very busy!

Listening to your body is a good skill to cultivate - in Pilates they call it “body awareness” with several Mind & Body meanings.

Have you got a date for your neuro appt yet?

C xx

Yes, 15th April, so not that much longer to wait now. Sometimes I just think I’m being lazy! This afternoon I suddenly felt ridiculously tired. Ended up having a sleep for about an hour. Mind you, I’m sure sometimes that a migraine thing with me. To be honest, I’m so glad I’m seeing the neuro, I’d love to find out what is migraine related and what isn’t. Hopefully he can throw some light on that.
