I’ve recently been struggling with severe fatigue and a lot of weakness- probably not helped by spending so much time in bed.
I can’t stand for very long nor walk very far but i feel a slight increase in energy, which has led me to try and start being proactive again.
So i’ve been researching rollators thinking i need to try and increase my standing ability and mobility, as a stick is pretty useless at the moment.
Anyway i have taken delivery of a Topro olympos rollator and it is fantastic ! Made in Norway, extremely robust, so easy to handle and looks wonderful ! It also comes in two sizes.
It has supersized puncture proof wheels perfect for outside and is marketed as an ‘off-roader’. I’ve trialed it in our rural rambling garden and even managed down the long uneven drive way.
It’s perfect for walking a bit and then sitting a bit, as it has a very strong, supportive seat.
There are also extra accessories you can buy to personalise it.
I only received yesterday and had such fun in the garden, that today my legs have gone back to sleep and i’m having a day off.
I’m hoping that it will help me to build some strength and stamina but probably taking things more slowly - i got far too excited yesterday and today i’m paying for it lol .
I’m still smiling though and tomorrow’s another day - i have a new best friend .
Topro are ace. The Norweigans make some fabulous products.
It’s very strange how we get wheelchair/walker/crutch/stick envy.
I remember when I first started using a crutch seeing someone in sainsburys with a bright pink one. I couldn’t rest until I’d found out where she’d got it from and ordering myself one (in purple).
Enjoy your swanky new rollator, just don’t overdo it in the first few days!
lisar - well done - l have been extolling the virtues of topro olympus for several years now. And l do meet people who have ‘rollator envy’ when they see my lovely machine.
Lots of different posts on here right now about rollators - and it looks like the Topro olympus is favourite.
Lisar, I know how you feel. I’ve been using a Topro Troja for a few weeks now and I’d go as far as to say it’s been life changing!
I was using crutches before so was unable to carry anything properly and certainly couldn’t get myself a drink at work. I got the cup holder (not cheap) and now I can do that for myself. I can even go and get my on prints from the printer. Small things but massive when you value your independence.
Lisar, During the summer - l am able to water all the tubs and baskets on my decking - with the help of Topro Olympus - l can get 3 - yes - 3 - watering cans full of water - that’s one in the basket and then the other two balanced on the seat. l do ‘slop’ a bit - but not much. And l can get to pick beans raspberries - feed the hens - take fresh water down to them. Winter time its back to fetching in logs for the wood-burner.
Hate shopping - so it’s only occasionally l go to the supermarket - but it certainly comes into its own there.
No dancing around our handbags now - my friends all join me and dance around my rollator - lt has room for all their bags and pashminas etc. By the end of the evening l find most of my pals are hanging onto it - but that is the booze!
