Totally agree. Places like The Forum, Leicester De Montfort Hall and many others were the perfect size - big enough for superb sound, small enough for intimacy. Massive arenas couldn’t ever compete.

I remember driving round in circles trying to get to De Montfort Hall, going to see Elvis Ccostello! Much easier to get to Barbarella’s in Brum! where Nick Lowe turned up.on bass after Bruce Thomas injured his hand after their Rafters gig in Manchester!..not that I was a big fan!
Bridgewater Hall in Manchester is the perfect size and the acoustics are fantastic.
another favourite is the Trades club in Hebden Bridge. went to see Maxine Peake reading some poetry and there were a couple of acoustic acts on too but by that time I’d had a few too many pints of real ale. My son saw British Sea Power there.
i have a bit of a girl crush on maxine peake. she’s a fantastic actress and was a good mate of victoria wood.
oh what became of me? I was always on the lookout for the next concert I wanted to go to.
sending for tickets, taking advantage of the free ticket for carers.
bought tickets that way to see The Waterboys at Bridgewater Hall.
another amazing band.
better go to bed soon or i’ll wear my poor rusty brain out!
Even the Quo were amazing (and I so wasn’t looking forward to them) and as for Inxs (bless Michael Hutchences dark and sexy soul - major crush material!).
I think there were so many people at that series of gigs hundreds of thousands were either there, or have convinced themselves they were as it’s been on TV so much!!

I was just abou to say to anyone who has the opportunity, go and watch Elio Pace, had such a good time, even though it was just Billy Joel covers at our local theatre!
Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Young, John Martyn, Van Morrison etc etc…
yep! saw Neil Young 2 or 3 years ago at Manchester Arena just wanted to take him home with me.
my youngest son absolutely loves him and wants to play his songs.
he know that NY writes his own, and my Billy has written a few himself.
my best friend adored Van Morrison and every time we planned a night out, she would get tickets to see him.
to be honest I started to get cheesed off,
She died in 2013 and had In the Garden played at her funeral. Fly well my lovely fairy.
Jethro Tull’s pretty good live…strange he had a washing line across the stage with various garments pegged on it! Perhaps he was airing his smalls after a sweaty session!
My hubby likes Blues Dick Hextall Smith… could play two saxophones at once! …
Yes music takes our minds off this cra@@y condition.
Maybe airing his smalls after a sweaty session!
Oh but what about the very gorgeousness and simply oooooo ness of David Essex? Those eyes…ooooooo…oh you`ve dont it now Carole…our Karen, who was around 3 ish, called him Devex! We still do.
Boudsx…
So agree Ssssue, all the acts at that Queen concert were good, that was inxs first real gig, still like their music today and like you say Michael Hutchences, OMG gorgeous, so sad he died. Poll, David Essex was my heart throb in my teens, loved that guy.

I saw Devex twice…even when he was in Eastenders, his sparkly blues still did it for me. I dont like Eastenders, but watched it just to get me fix!

I remember literally bumping into David Essex outside an hotel once, he was staying there all his fans were screaming outside another one! He apologised for standing on my foot…quite hard, as he ran to his car! Nice chap though…Had the bruise for ages.
Lucky you Maude…I wouldnt mind a bruise or two from Devex!
Boudsx
ooh Poll
getting a bit saucy on the David Essex front.
wanting more bruises from him.
50 shades of Boudicca!
Seeing Eric Clapton the first time at the then new national indoor arena in Birmingham next to the nec. Amazing guitarist. Also AC/DC, and dire straights. All for the music though. One for me fir the swoon factor has to be The Boss- Bruce Springsteen!!!
I really like listening to music. There wasn’t a day that I didn’t listen to music. I prefer old music, but I also like modern ones. Here are some of my favorites:
‘Gimme Shelter’ — The Rolling Stones
‘Sympathy For The Devil’ — The Rolling Stones
‘I Walk The Line’ — Johnny Cash
‘River Deep – Mountain High’ — Ike and Tina Turner
‘Help!’ — The Beatles
‘People Get Ready’ — The Impressions
‘In My Life’ — The Beatles
I listen in different applications. My favorite is Apple Music, but I use a lot of free music steaming sites like SoundCloud, LiveXLive, YouTube and others from this list https://streamingsites.com/music-streaming-services/
