MS or Menopause . Newbie here .

Hi all.

3 MRIs last year and the latest one shows significant changes suggesting MS so awaiting further tests . The MRIs were taken for something completely unrelated so this possible diagnosis is a shock .

Here are some symptoms which until MS was mentioned I thought was the menopause.

Tightness around ribs and chest as if being hugged my iron man. This lasted around 10 days

One toe randomly moving back and fourth.

Sharp shocks in my back .

Eye pain .

Vibrating sensation in legs

Brain fog

Wee urge but leaking before getting to the bathroom.

Legs give way occasionally.

Cold feet .
Red hands

Fatigue, like the early stages of pregnancy.

@Flyergirl73 I got diagnosed at the age of 52 and had ignored a lot of symptoms that could also be attributed to Menopause, indeed some of the symptoms you have listed, I had.

Unfortunately, you are female and presumably menopause age, so everyone around you seems to have these weird symptoms and if you see any one medical, they say likely menopause.

I had not really thought or heard much about MS until my symptoms took a worse turn, foot when numb, leg weakness, foot drop etc. but perhaps if Had I taken previous symptoms seriously, then I could have perhaps had an earlier diagnosis.

Are you being referred to a MS specialist for further tests?

Hi, thank you for replying. I’ve just had a long call with my GP who has made the referral. It’s just a waiting game . She went through the findings on the MRI but obviously couldn’t diagnose but she suggested MS but as with anything I need to wait for more tests .x

Hi

I was 53 when diagnosed and like you had put it down to menopause BUT with hindsight there were telltale symptoms that I didn’t take heed of.

Hope you are as well as you can be.

@mogpaton Hindsight is a great thing isn’t it, I think we program ourselves to almost brush off things as insignificant, but when you add it all together, it becomes quite obvious!

Exactly! I even Googled my “symptoms” years ago and even then it said MS as a possibility and I just thought “I don’t think so” and now I wish I had thought more about it

Since about aged 15, if I ever got sick, I’d have pain that would start in my fingers or toes and gradually spread to random places over my body. My toe would hurt but within an hour, I’d have a feeling like I’d got a carpet bum all down my butt or stomach.

theh those pains would occur if I wasn’t ill and were more frequent.

I visited my GP about it 8 times and was told it was probably a virus. Then intolerance to cold. Waking up coughing if I slept on my back because I couldn’t swallow Property on my back. Extreme tiredness . Extreme sensitive scalp and when I was 23 I was getting UTi infections 3 or 4 times a month. I gained a ton of weight,
food tastes too sweet.

I got numb fingers and toes.

Getting very tired and have leg pain on walks .

Restless legs, then sepsis. From a uti that infected my kidney and the infection spread to My blood.

However I had a lumbar to check for brain fluid and they didn’t find any but didn’t mention MS either.

I get the leak before I pee thing.im 43, periods stopped at 38. Very dry skin,z

Recently-weight gain, an intolerance to heat., severe spine pain so I can never get comfy in bed, brain fog, memory loss , poor bladder control. Lethargy, memory loss and confusion and a total taste change in food. Over the last 4 weeks I’ve had severe vertigo, like the floor is made of sponge, and the right stomach and ribs.

Not sure if this is relevant but I was born with bone pupil massively larger than the other and it doesn’t really dilate. I’ve noticed my eye sight declining immensely.

poor sleep , itching like crazy, shooting random pain , sunburn feeling over my body. MS hug walking up stairs.
