Hi everyone, I am new to this forum, looks like a really good one. I am just about to start the ball rolling in speaking to GP about my symptoms, and joining some dots. Suspect some years in limbo land are to begin. I live in Scotland. And come to this journey with an open heart
The symptom that has made me think about MS, is the MS Hug. I’ve had two recent severe ones in one day, that made me recall one from 2 years ago, and back then I realised it wasn’t the first. Other symptoms include difficulty swallowing 3 yrs ago, a weak ankle, blurred vision, neuropathy in of the legs, Banding round my toes, back spasms, difficulty walking, twice really debilitating this year, and a FND diagnosis 14 years ago, and chronic fatigue for last 2 yrs. I have not thought of MS until the recent MS hugs, do you think this will be enough for a referral to neurologist. GP phone call due in 14 Dec. Thanks for listening.
Hi Gonzo. I’m sorry but I’ve no idea if MS type hugs are a symptom that requires investigation for possible MS - I just don’t know enough. However, I would certainly discuss the ‘Hugs’ and your other symptoms with the GP.
I’d go straight for the request for referral to a Neurologist; make a list of 5 to 10 symptoms in order of how often/badly they affect you.
I have in recent years come to realise that a lot of the weird symptoms I have had on and off since my teens were actually MS and not growing pains, or burning the candle at both ends during college, or stress from work etc. including MS hug.
Oh thanks for that advice, I just wrote the list out this morning, yes I too have blamed every symptom on my personality type of being on the go all my life. I plan to be calm but assertive🤞 thanks again for replying.
