Mri today, instances...

Hiya, I had an mri today, it wasnt as bad as I was expecting, on the way out I saw the screen with my details on, it said instances 14 - anyone got any idea if this means anything? :joy: and another word next to it that I canā€™t remember for the life of me with 908 under neath. Probably nothing but my anxiety really needs to know :see_no_evil: thanks

They dont normally have the screen open to the patient, never seen that before as all the stuff apertaining to it is behind the glass in their room where they see the THE MACHINE WORKING where patients cant see it, What scan did you have? head, spine or full body scan. Personally i wouldnt bother worrying over it hun.

was it your first one? as they wouldnt have results that quick for you to see on screen, so please dont get worried ok. xxx

It was a mobile scanner so I had to walk past the computers to get to the scanner, and then when I came back the lady who was at that computer wasnt there and it was still open under my file, I shouldnt of looked but I cant help myself. He was using the other computer to tell me where the results were going to. Yeah it was my first one and it was just of the brain, I have another one for contrast spine and brain but I havenā€™t had the appointment for that yet xx

Oh, Iā€™d ignore that.
MRIs are quite complex and they produce all sorts of gobbledigook that means nothing to us.
Even the radiographer who does the scan canā€™t tell you anything about it on the day. They need to go to a specialist radiologist to interpret the scan.
And, even then, in my experience no two radiologists agree on the same scan!
And in all my reports, Iā€™ve never seen MS lesions referred to as ā€œinstancesā€.

Thanks Leonora, thats exactly what I needed to hear from someone whoā€™s had a report and knows what they say šŸ«¶šŸ» As I say I shouldnā€™t of looked but I just couldnt help myself :see_no_evil:

14 imaging slices of a particular brain segment, 14 satisfactory images, 14 not satisfactory imagesā€¦? 14 times you fidgeted in there? Who knows? No one, not even the worldā€™s greatest expert would be able to make much of that.

Thank you šŸ«¶šŸ»

I would be the exact same if I was able to see anything on the screen. No point telling you to not worry because I would too. Anything to find out any news but unfortunately waiting is your only option. Whatever the outcome is I hope it goes smoothly for you.
(I was so anxious at my first mobile MRI scan years ago, they brought my husband in to hold my hand. I wouldnā€™t stay still with it being so tight :woman_facepalming: so you done a lot better than me) lol

Good luck and best wishes

Its nice to know im not the only one :joy: yeah it wasnt the most comfortable 45 minutes of my life I must say but wasnt as bad as I thought, apart from when they spoke to me through the headphones (without pre warning me they could do that) and I nearly had a heart attack :joy: thank you for the reply Bronagh :two_hearts:

This did make me smile - I nearly had a kitten when a crackling voice suddenly came through the headphones too.

Yes it can be pretty shocking when you arenā€™t used to it. I still jump to someone talking to me through the earphones lol
