Our eldest son gets married on Saturday and we are off to Glasgow for the weekend…I’m so excited and nervous and also very overwhelmed…I hope that I will look okay in the Wheelchair ??? Iv’e bought a gorgeous mother of the groom dress in gold and a big fascinator and Frazer and i are wearing matching flowers.
I went to my sister in law’s wedding in the wheelchair. It was fine. The family was very thoughtful towards my needs in terms of venue and facilities. As it happened, one of her friends was in a chair too. I felt normal. It’s my brother’s in July and I’m really looking forward to it. I love the idea of going a long way for a wedding; it makes it more special.
I wish I’d had a wheelchair at my son’s wedding 18 months ago. I was determined to manage with a stick and was in permanent terror of tripping, esp shuffling down the aisle with the bride’s father in front of 120 people! If I’d had a chair I would have been able to circulate at the reception instead of being parked, so enjoy your freedom and have a wonderful day!
Thank you everyone, We will be travelling down after lunch travel down after lunch. I’m just packing the last few things. so much to remember, my Carer is coming to do Molly’s hair, hopefully it will stay in place she can sleep in one of those silk hats i just didn’t fancy trying to do her hair myself tomorrow, my hands are weak and her being autistic we’d probably both be in a state Iv’e got my gas tongs to do mine my hairdressers done my colour and shown me how to do the ringlets and if it all goes wrong its covered by the fascinator…off course you can borrow it Don …i now have this wonderful image in my head ! Its a big gold bow…very fancy, on a head band What colour is your beard Don ??? 'm sure it will suit you. I have to go now i’m going to have my first shower in my new bathroom…its done at last and it looks gorgeous…and not the least bit disabled looking.
Youll all be well in the swing of things now...having a great time, Im sure.
I love a wedding…a chance to get dressed up to the nines!
Last year, one of my carers got married and I wore a fab outfit, complete with fascinator. I was the only person to keep their hat on all day and evening. Superb!!! I never expected to be able to sit so long in my wheelie, but the happiness kept me going.
Thank you so much for all of your lovely messages. It was absolutely fabulous ! everyone looked amazing i’m so happy for my son, his new wife is such a lovely person and her family are lovely too. It wasn’t an expensive wedding…in fact it was very modest, but all of his friends at the church they attend did everything to make it an amazing day… and the Scottish dancing was out of this world! Everybody got up even me! My youngest son made sure that i didn’t miss out…its amazing how many moves you can do in a wheelchair! I even did the conger with my six year old niece! My little granddaughters were very good and slept through most of it… and both of them and Frazer stole the show…he looked gorgeous in his matching flowers.
Its not over yet, many of his friends at the church over here and his grandparents and Rosanna his older sister with severe Autism weren’t able to travel to Glasgow, so we are having a big party at the end of May! It will be nice to dress up again.
I have to say I am completely exhausted I feel so weak, but it was worth it!
I am sorry I missed your first post about the wedding. I have read it all through and so glad that you and Frazer enjoyed yourselves so much. Dancing in a wheelchair, great!!
I hope by now you are feeling a little lexx exhausted and ready for the next big party at the end of May.
