Hi. My mobility scooter insurance is coming in March and it’s £131 nearly 3 times more than we pay for home contents insurance in central Brighton! I have never made a claim and we have to keep it in our flat or car because they won’t insure it outside unless it’s in a garage. I just wonder why I bother.
Anyone have any advice or recommendations please?
Must admit I’ve never insured my scooters which, like you , I keep in the house or the car unless the car is going to be left somewhere unattended for a while .
The scooters have lithium batteries which I do remove when the car is parked in our drive.
I might end up regretting the lack of insurance but so far, 5-6 years, so good.
Remember insurance normally covers you for any damage and injury you cause.
A very large claim resulted from a scooter ending up in a swimming pool luckily the owner was not on it at the time.
Another case was when a scooter damaged a lift putting it out of action for a long time.
Pays to shop around (as with all other insurance).
Hi Allium, I’ve always insured my scooter, for loss, damage and in case I hurt someone else. I was with one particular company for a while and the prices just kept going up, so last year I checked out another company names Surewise, cost me £40 last year, just got my renewel, £40 again this year, now I do realise it depends what you what covering, but this covered everything I wanted, so maybe worth a look for you.

Good point! I do use mine in supermarkets and department stores where there is potential for causing damage
Thanks very much Jean, that sounds much more like it. I’ll look them up. Ali
I just got my insurance and with added 24/7 breakdown it’s on £65 and less than half I was paying before. THANK YOU so much.
