Mirtazipine

I have been on Mirtazipine for a while now. My GP increased it from 15mg to 45 after my mothers death. It was horrendous causing massive sleep disturbance, which I put down to grief but subsequent discovered that 15 mg is the optimum for a sedative effect ( which I needed due to severe intractable pain) but at 45 it’s the opposite. So I came off it but on my own initiative and without fully understanding how I should titrate. The withdrawal was horrendous and I ended up back on 15mg. However, I now use baclofen and that’s sedative too so I am hoping to get off Mirtazipine. I am taking 15mg one day, half the next, I intend doing this for a week them to 7.5 for a week then getting fluid from the GP so I can half it again. I put lots of weight on with Mirtazipine, and as I also take Pregabalin it’s a double whammy. I am now size 12, gone up from 8/10 which is my ideal size. As I am a wheelchair user with limited mobility indoors, I can’t afford to keep putting on weight purely for sedation. The 15mg does nothing for my depression. Has anyone else had similar experiences, especially the withdrawal, which was pretty horrendous. I found a forum where users described similar, one said it was worse than when he/ she came off heroin! Any experiences? Susi
