My GP is concerned about possible MS and has referred me, for a second time, to the neurologist. The last time the neurologist fobbed me off and I’m not keen to repeat the experience.
I have private medical insurance - can anybody recommend a neurologist near Manchester or across North West England who is an MS specialist with a reasonable bedside manner?
Ask your GP for a referral to the Walton Centre in Liverpool. They have MS specialists.
I don’t know if they do private consultations.
You could research online perhaps
Your GP is probably going to be the best source of info on this. They should know the local scene. You’ll want someone who is also the person on whose NHS list you’ll end up if it comes to that.
Unfortunately my GP claims that they don’t have enough experience with local neurologists to recommend anyone in particular.
Thank you for the recommendation of the Walton Centre. It looks like they don’t do private practice there, but I might be able to see one of their neurologists privately at a different hospital. It looks like Dr Wilson can be seen privately in Chester. I’m also looking at possibly seeing Dr Schumacher in Manchester.
Dr Roger Mills works at Walton Centre but has a private clinic next door in the Aintree Hospital. He’s really nice.
