I have been recently diagnosed with MS and need to find a private neurologist to access my condition and to arrange further treatment. Can anyone help me with finding a neurologist? I have tried Google but I feel a recommendation would be better. I live in the south east of England.

Sorry! I live in Cumbria, so a long way from south east. Best of luck in your search.
Hi,
Any reason you want a private neurologist?
Did you have one to diagnose you? They should discuss treatment etc.
Also, have you been allocated an MS nurse?
Sorry, can’t help. Maybe phone your local hospital.
Take care.

I think you will find you would just be paying to see the same person you would see on the NHS! I have seen mine for several appointments (NHS) at his private clinic(s). You still need a referral from your GP I believe.
Hi, I guess you’ve got us all wondering why you need a private neuro?
However, I saw a really good consultant in The Walton Centre Liverpool, on NHS. Maybe he does private too.

when i first started my journey in 2006 i had an 8 month waiting list to see the neurologist so i asked my GP if i could be referred to one privately. the neuro i was booked to see on NHS had a private clinic so i was able to book with him. he has been with me every since but mostly on NHS. he switches in between.
Not sure if you have been diagnosed anyway you must have been by a neurolgoist so cant you use them or did you not like them? neurolgoists are hard to come by.
I love my neuro whether he is private or NHS. when i first saw him he did all the tests on the NHS for me.
You should be able to google your local hospital and see who is down as neurolgist. I googled and found a website straight away. I have sent it via PM as i am not sure i can post it on here.
If you are lucky enough to have private health insurance you can contact the London Bridge Hospital, I think its part of HCA healthcare. Get an appointment with Dr (removed by moderator)… He also oversees the Kings college hospital london MS team. Might be a bit of a trek depending on where you are but perhaps worth a trip for some good advise.
Best,

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful. I am returning from abroad having been diagnosed with MS and having started a course of Ocrevus and I need to sort out my next IV session. I have made a private appointment with a neurologist and I am hoping he can then refer me to the NHS for further treatment.
Good luck everyone.
Chris
I’m afraid of travelling abroad as I think I’m unprotected and not safe medically.
Don’t you have a medical insurance? Don’t be afraid. In every country there are proper clinics. You can check (removed by moderator) for searching a corresponding clinic. Just search beforehand where you might receive help if needed.
i used the Circle Health group website - searched for Neurology as a speciality/treatment then postcode then SEARCH - you can see a list closest to you and their specialities / profiles - i ended up booking through them as well, although i did find that the neurologists also appeared on other private health care websites to book as well.
hope all goes well
