West Midlands Neurologist…any recommendations

Afternoon - my GP is going to refer me to a neurologist as I haven’t seen one for years and is happy for me to choose who I want to see. I’m in the west midlands so looking at the QE in Birmingham. From research, looks like Dr John Woolmore or Dr Gordon Mazibrada know alot about MS (the last one I saw seemed to have a very worryingly low level of MS understanding :-0 ) so would like to see someone who gets MS. Any comments or recommendations?

Thanks in advance

Caroline

Hi, I have sent you a private message

John

I am seeing Dr Woolmore on Friday for the 2nd time, I found him to be very Easy to talk to last year at my first appointment and he rang with my news as I had requested. Sonia

I have been seeing Dr Woolmore since my diagnosis in 2010, I have always found him knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The MS nurses at the QE are also really friendly and do a great job.

Chris

I see Dr Woolmore for Rebif check ups. He’s easy to talk to.

Hi; does anyone know if [removed by moderator] works within the NHS and has anyone seen him privately to diagnose MS. I would not mind paying private at first but would need hopefully to be seen within the NHS after that to help my pocket…I wonder if going private would still require a GP referral letter?. This would be difficult as my doctors dismiss me when i ask if my symptoms could be MS… Any advice would be welcome… Best Wishes to all whom suffer MS…Prianka.
