Hi, I think they all work together. If you take vitamin D3 you’re supposed to take calcium and magnesium as well. I can’t remember all the techie stuff, but I think they’re needed to help the other get absorbed into the body. I think 5000IU of D3 is OK to begin with, then after a couple of months you need to get your bloods checked and adjust accordingly. But, you should ensure you get enough calcium. I saw a video on You Tube about it that said taking Tums to get your additional calcium was OK. Not sure how valid it is. I’ve just today started using magnesium oil to see if it’ll help reduce stiffness in my leg. Got some epsom salts, too, and going to soak my feet for 20 minutes. Remember, what ever you put on your skin gets absorbed into your blood stream. Heather
I’ve been taking both the D3 and Mag for around 6 months, and have just had a D3 blood test done by my MS consultant, the levels were 38, this figure means nothing to me what so ever, but when I asked should I increase or decrease the D3 he said stick to this dosage because he couldnt garauntee that anything higher than a 5000iu daily dosage was safe or would be more benefitial.
He is a big believer in D3, and it was him that suggested I start taking it, but I’m still confused by the figures ?
He also said that as far as Magnesium goes its just a personal choice whether I take it or not, he didnt seem to think it was a necessary combination of Mag alongside D3, but that I should definatley stick with the D3 at a 5000iu daily dose, but no higher, even though I’m thinking my level of 38 seems low.
