Well tomorrow is the day!!! I’m not really looking forward to it to be honest. I’ve missed one appointment already due to a back spasm which crippled me for a couple of weeks, but now i’m feeling ok/ better (ish).
I’ve stocked up on coke and will be trying to get as much caffine into me as possible once the deed has been done.
Can anybody tell me the name of that needle which is supposed to be the better one to use for the lumbar puncture? I plan to ask the doctor if I can have the procedure carried out using one of them, but won’t hold my breath.
I hope my rolls of flab dont get too much in the way
I can’t help you with the name of the needle, but I just wanted to say that I had my LP a few weeks ago, and it was’t at all as bad as I was expecting.
My advice would be to drink loads and lay as flat as possible as much as possible over the few days following.
I’m sure someone will be along in due course with the name of that needle.

I had the lumbar puncture this morning, it took untill today for this post to appear!. I wrote it yesterday - lol.
I arrived at the hospital on time but was made to wait for an hour and a half as they couldn’t find the doctor tp do the LP. That was probably the worst wait I have ever had in my life.
As for as the lumber puncture procedure, it went OK ish, I volunteered for a trial where they look at peoples spinal fluid and do some tests on it. What I didn’t realise and wasn’t told about, was that part of the trial was for the nurse to attempt the LP and have a practice with the supervision of a doctor.
To cut a long story short (2 and half hour story, well that was how long it took) they managed to collect the fluid and it is now being sent off for analysis. I thought I would have to wait for weeks before the results come back, but I was told that some results would be back today and the others in a few days time. (I wonder if ths was because of the trial which I agreed too!!)
Anyway the only result I did hear, was that my spinal fluid pressure was 17 and i dont know if that is good or bad.
