Losing it

Hey,the last few months my walking has got worse and don’t know what’s happening. Its my good leg that I depend on thats got worse. Went to physios and 1 said itd a pulled hamstring and the other physio said its spasticity. Its like a pulled hamstring,it’s a bit sore from groin to my knee. It makes going up a step or stairs feel like the hardest thing. So frustrating it is. It’s so bad that walking a tiny bit is a complete struggle. It could be spasticity too,its take baclofen but not sure would more of it help. I’m at a loose end and feel like I’m losing my mind. Dont know what to do.

Did the physio suggest a programme of gentle stretches to help recovery? Assuming it is a hamstring problem, a bit more guidance on how best to proceed would be helpful.

Thanks whammel, yes the physio gave me exercises to do and compression bands which helped me a bit. Went to another physio after and she said its spasticity. Just told me to increase baclofen. So I’m stuck between a pulled hamstring and spasticity. Either way it has made my walking alot worse. Im doin the exercises and taking a bit of baclofen which seems to not do much .

Do you use the MS UK gym in Colchester? It looks pretty decent and they obviously have a good understanding of MS, which can only help.

" MS-UK has a wellness centre Josephs Court in Colchester. The centre is open six days a week with some evening availability too. There is a range of specialist neurological rehabilitation equipment and power assisted exercise options, as well as items that you would expect to see in a more traditional exercise and physiotherapy environment. The centre also offers pain management services (APS therapy) complementary therapies, physiotherapy and social activities."

I am guessing that you will be given a fixed Swedish Knee Cage to sort out the hyperextension problem and in my experience, they really do work.

Hopefully, your new aids will start to help improve mobility.

No I don’t use gym,I get my aids 1 st November so keeping everything crossed they work x
