Long Haul flight with Copaxone

Hello everybody

I used to travel a lot before I was diagnosed a couple years ago. I’m now on Copaxone and although I have venture to Europe to visit my mum for 10 days and it seemed went OK. I would love to make at least one more journey far far away but still for no more than 2 weeks when I physically and independently can.

So my question to my fellow Copaxone users, has any one of you travelled say to America or Far East, was it OK to have Copaxone in your overhead luggage for such an extensive time without worrying the temperature will get too high as the cooling pack in the medical bag will not last that long. And if you travelled, have you got any tips, have you come across any obstacle making you feel, it has been bad decision from the start?

Or am I just kidding myself and stick to travel within the Europe?

Some of you might think, what am I all about with all the prices going up sky high intending to travel to another end of the world. Well, I’m not travelling just yet. It will need more and very careful planning to my previous travel, which will take a time.

I like to have some option opened with my MS, if doable money permitted.

Wishing you all the best
Hana

I was on Copaxone when I went to USA and there were no problems. You need to make sure that you have a Dr’s letter stating that you are prescribed and need this medication. Also get a mini sharps container to take with you. Hope this helps, good luck. If you are taking a long flight take precautions regarding DVT.

A bit predictable, but this is from the MS Trust.

“Different countries have different regulations about medications that can be brought into the country. Before travelling, check the rules for all the countries you will be visiting, even if you’re just passing through.”

For what it is worth, I am a firm believer in doing what you can, while you can, and hope you get to enjoy many more adventures to come.
