So I have been told last April I have lesions, had lp, blood work etc all normal. I have many symptoms but not enough for diagnosis. I’m due to see neuro again in 2 weeks for 6 months review. My question is as I don’t have a diagnosis this is making getting travel insurance difficult. I obviously need to declare to get cover, but how with no name. Any ideas? Thx
hi dusty
ask your neuro what name you should give to your health problem.
maybe neurological issue?
good luck

If a doctor can’t give what you have a name you can’t tell the insurance company anything. To cover yourself get them to write somewhere that you are having Neurological tests; make sure it’s recorded somewhere.

Some years ago a neuro labelled me with Idiopathic spastic paraparesis…the idiopathic bit means we dont know.
Hereditary sp is listed on health insurance details. But I`ve yet to find Isp.
Think I`ll continue to use hsp for travel insurance.

Hi dusty it’s a nightmare isn’t it and this can be a long journey . I started 10 yrs ago but after 3 yrs of messing and no travel insurance I convinced my neuro at the time to say I did not have ms at that time so I could go back to normal . This time I was due to travel whilst waiting for tests so I discussed it an insurance company and agreed I’d exclude anything that could be related to my symptoms … for me that wasn’t an issue as it’s sensory and fatigue so I chose to view it as low risk. Now I am diagnosed (but only in last 4 months so high risk in insurance eyes even though I am as well as I was 10 yrs ago) and my husband has cancer that is just being controlled not eradicated plus other long term conditions with one set of companies our last quote was 1400 for a post treatment week in Malta! Since gone to a specialist company who ask so much detail your head spins but it looks like we will get covered for about 150
so shop around is answer . The specialist company I am looking at I believe will deal with “limbo landers” though haven’t checked .
Hi
i was diagnosed cis and was only a few weeks away from a pre booked holiday, i rang them and they took a note and that was it, no extra cost and they were brilliant, maybe its because the holiday was booked before my problems arose but have been away since with no problem, because i am generally well and no official diagnosis of ms i am classed as fit to travel, hope this helps ![]()
I’m similar to Sue with CIS diagnosis and a holiday booked before I was diagnosed. Have an annual policy so called them and they’ve made a note but no extra premium as was diagnosed after booking so covered as standard. If I wanted to book another holiday before policy is renewed it would’ve been an extra £23. That was from January to October but they said unless I was booking a holiday there was no need to pay. They explained that the additional premium was pro-rate so would go down with each month.
Thank you for all your comments, I’m seeing neuro next week, so will ask her advice. Xxx
