Hi all, 1 of my lesions has moved and has changed the symptoms to my other leg. It’s so frustrating and don’t know how that happened. What’s worse is that it’s my good leg that affected. I can just about walk a few steps with 2 sticks.it seems to have weakened the upper part of my leg around the groin adductor muscle. I got exercises from physio but not helping much. Ms does do strange little things to annoy you just when things are ok. No idea what to do, shall I just keep up with the exercises.
Jimmy
Morning Jimmy, so I’m replying because I had no idea a lesion could move, have the powers that be explained to you how this has happened ? Sorry I really don’t have a lot of advice to give, but if it was me I’d carry on with the exercises for a good while and if still no effect get in touch with your nurse ( if you have one ) good luck,
Jean
Hi Jean, I didn’t think that could happen too but it’s the 2nd time that the lesion moved in my cervical spine. “There was movement” is what I was told. It explains why my symptoms have changed from my left side to my right side. It’s not considered a relapse as far as I know. Just it’s horrible that my good leg is now my bad leg. Exercises kinda help but not enough. Confusing thing ms is.
Jimmy
Hi Jimmy, that’s very interesting and a bit weird at the same time, to think it can just do that and completely alter your MS. My lesions are more on the brain, so I’m guessing they can’t move, but someone might tell me different.
Jean
Hi Jean, yes it’s very interesting but frustrating too. It happened a few years ago to me when the spinal lesion shifted a bit. I notice it with symptoms this time unfortunately. Iv a few brain lesions too and as far as I know they either get smaller or turn into a black hole but the signals get rerouted so may not have any symptoms. The spinal cord is alot smaller so any lesions do cause symptoms. I just don’t know what causes it. Super strange it is.

Hi Jimmy, So I have SPMS, dx’d 16yrs now and mine is progressing, I’ve had mri’s and no new lesions, my ms nurse has told me mine is progressing off my old lesions, so yes for sure its a strange one.
Jean
Jean, I’m diagnosed 11 years with rrms. Iv heard that’s its the old lesions progressing that causes problems for some people depending on where they are. I’ve a few on my spinal cord and a few in cervical cord brainstem and brain. But I’m generally ok but the last year or 6 months has been the worst and MRIs are stable. Maybe my lesion has got larger . I never quizzed the neuro more about it but I will when I see him next year. It’s tough to do exercises when I’m panicking about Xmas shopping at the moment too.
Jimmy
My old lesions have definitely caused me problems, in the beginning I did have 1 or 2 new ones, but now everything seems to be off the old ones, although I haven’t had an MRI in about 3yrs. This is the 1st year for me that I said I wasn’t doing Christmas presents for family and friends, still buying for my hubby, but to be honest I was finding it really difficult and stressful, everyone has been very understanding about it, maybe you might have to look at your situation, good luck. Have the best Christmas you can, here it’s just me and my hubby, just the way we now like it, (we don’t have children)
Jean
Hi Jean,I think I’m similar to you in that my old lesions are causing me the problems now too. I’m definitely off too. Thought I was doing good and living with my new normal but this has thrown me completely off track. I’ve just come back from having an MRI, I get them every 4months now. Traffic was nuts today. Iv given up with Xmas shopping this year I reckon.
Have a lovely Christmas to ye and best wishes for the new year.
Jimmy
Morning Jimmy, good luck with the results, just one final thing that I don’t think I said, when I was dx’d 16yrs ago I went straight in at SPMS, I had my 1st issue with MS back in 1990 when I had eye problem and was told I had iritis, I lost vision completely in 1 eye, but nobody gave me a diagnoses, then from that year until 2006 I lived with a lot of different symptoms, fatigue being just 1, but never went to a GP to get things checked, I was young and basically got on with life, so by the time I did see someone I had SPMS. So wishing you luck and all good wishes for 2023, lets hope its a better 1 for all of us.
Jean
