Left foot drop - any advice appreciated

I have been lurking around this site for a while and decided to reach out. For a couple if years I have had numbness in my toes which spread up my left leg and currently up to my thigh. I fell quite a lot at the beginning but now walk like a puppet by raising my knee. I have limited movement below my knee and it getting worse. I started seeing a neurologist in September and my third appointment is in March. I had a lumbar MRI then a couple of months later I had a pelvic MRI and both were clear. I had a two hour EMG and was told there was a problem but he seemed convinced it was a trapped nerve…it isn’t we now know. I have absolutely no pain as completely the opposite. I get a fair bit of tingling which I notice at night. I struggle to walk as far as I used to. Neurologist, when asked, said he didn’t think it was MS and said I was a mystery as he doesn’t know what is causing my foot drop. I’m always tired and unable to lift my left leg plus I am a bit wobbly at times. I am having physeo at the neurology department - next one on Monday. It is making zero difference. I honestly don’t know what is going on but I was told by the young neurologist that because it is constant numbness/weakness that it is probably not MS. I would really appreciate any comments from anyone out there. Thank you.

\hi, a lot of folk hereabouts would probably agree with me in saying numbness and weakness can certainly indicate MS, as they have it!

Weakness is definitely my worst symptom.
I’ve had PPMS 24 years and have been a wheelchair user for most of that.

I had foot drop initially and many falls occurred.

It took 22 years to diagnose me, as the lesions are only in my spine. They hid themselves well!

I think you ask for a 2nd opinion.

I really appreciate your response. Yesterday I had a physeo appointment and was told there has been a substantial loss of strength in my left leg since November. Offered a support device but declined as I want to go for as long as possible without one. He said I am welcome to go back anytime but there isnt much more they can do for me right now as I am doing everything he suggested. I cant see the point in going back until we see how my next neuro appointment goes in March. I am an optimistic person but struggling with this. I am worried about how quickly it is getting worse after a fairly slow start.

Always happy to chat , my wife has ms , and her left foot and leg are exactly the same

Thank you so much Sutton123. No diagnosis for me yet. Could be a while. I can still walk and not too many folks notice I am using my thigh now to lift left leg. So exhausting. I take it your wife has been diagnosed. I hope she is coping well. Did she go downhill quickly regarding her leg? I have had noticeable issues constantly since 2019 but surprised by loss of muscle movement since November. Physeo said I had 80% movement in left knee in November (foot and calf much less). Its Feb and I pretty much dont have any. How can I walk? Absolutely no pain …just numbness.
