My mum has Secondary-Progressive MS - over the past couple of years she has developed a strong tendency to lean to her left side - and tilting her head to the point where she now finds it quite difficult to straighten her head. She is now experiencing pain and strong cracking/popping in her neck vertebrae where I assume the joints have been under stress.
She finds it really hard to straighten up and the GP doesn’t seem to really understand what it’s all about.
I just wondered if anyone has experience of this leaning to one side, and if they had any success in righting it?
Maybe your mum would benefit from physiotherapy? Does she see a physio? A neurological physiotherapist would be best I should think.
If she doesn’t already have any regular physio, she could ask her MS nurse (assuming she has one of those), or if there’s a neurological rehab team in her area, or failing all else, ask the GP for a referral.
It’s the kind of thing that will just get worse if she doesn’t get some help with it. Hopefully she will.
hi she needs to be checked with an osteopath or one of those bone people sorry brain not working. she could need realigning. has she been checked for osteoporosis?
I am surprised he GP cant send her to physio or have her checked out for bone issues.
I know wheni first started this journey i would walk to the right. when i went into my office i would walk to the right and bang myself on the filing cabinets it was quite bizarre. my staff thought i was drunk.
my mum has also the same problems since 2 years. She has also SPMS and she leans always on the right side. Nothing helps, nobody knows what it is. some say it is spasm on this side. She also has very heavy back pain and developed a scoliosis. Does anyone experienced something like that and knows how to cure? Sorry for my bad english - i come from Germany.
Assuming you haven’t done it already, I would get her gait assessed by a decent physio, as they should be able to identify areas of muscle weakness and suggest a programme of exercises to help. If your mum can improve her posture it might help to reduce strain on her back too.
