Laparoscopic cystectomy

I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with a laparoscopic cystectomy( bladder removal) due to MS?

Hi, I havent, but have seen the op on tv. It is a drastic thing to do. Can I ask why you ask please?

My husband is having the procedure next month. He has MS. His bladder has stopped working as well as one of his kidneys. I am very worried about his recovery.

Oh dear, that is sad. I hope the op goes well.

Can I ask, has your hubby tries having a supra pubic catheter?

I have had this for 8 years and the bladder empties via the catheter.

Thank you. That is very kind. Yes, he has had an SPC for many years and was having botox in his bladder as well which was a real game changer for him making his life so much better. Unfortunately, he has been in the hospital about 6 times this year with Urosepsis. His bladder no longer works as well as one of his kidneys. He currently has a nephrostomy tube coming out of his working kidney. The cystectomy really is the only solution but we are so worried about it. I just hope he has the strength to recover.
