Lanarkshire/Glasgow area

Does anyone know of a support group or meet-up in the Lanarkshire/Glasgow area? I haven’t been able to find anything so far. Thanks

Hi

I cannot find any either I live just outside Glasgow apart from revive.

It would be good to meet up with other people and have a chat and coffee.

If you want to get in touch you can send me a message.

Anne

Hi I live in Glasgow and haven’t come across any support groups yet, I was diagnosed at the end of last year. Polly x

Hi Anne and Polly  there seems to be a shortage of organised groups in our area, perhaps we could get something started?

Hi Ellie

I’m sorry to hear that, I know what that is like and I find myself spending less and less time out with friends and family. It is easier just to stay at home sometimes! That sounds like just what I need, a meet up every now and then to chat with people who really know where im coming from  Take care and thanks for your reply

Hi Sharon I would be happy to meet up, I’m hoping next week to be back at work so once I’m back into a routine, we should arrange something. Polly x

Hi Polly, that would be great! I have been signed off from work until 18th April and I am so bored, I really miss going to work. I work for the council in benefits and revenue and they have been brilliant about everything but I am anxious to get back.

Hi, I’ve been off since start of Jan as bad dose of optic neuritis, so got my gp on Monday so hoping be going back. My work have been great so I’m hoping to do 2 shifts next week to start my phased return and build my hours back up. Is it the southern general you’ve been attending? I had an appointment this week but got cancelled yesterday as specialist is unwell. Polly x

Its optic neuritis thats kept me away from work too Polly, ive lost the sight in my left eye and right eye isnt great theres been no improvement in 3 months so im hoping it will start to get better soon! Im attending Hairmyers in East Kilbride as its closest to where I live but they’ve been fairly hopeless. Im still waiting to see the neuro at southern general for my “clinically definate” diagnosis.

Hi Sharon

I had optic neuritis in 2008 that was when I was diagnosed after MRI scan I was lucky I did not need a lumber puncture.

My eyesight is back to normal now it took about 6 months.

I attend. Southern General which have been really great I have a great nurse and neurologist.

I live in Bishopbriggs just outside Glasgow with my husband

I retired from work just after I was diagnosed I do miss the company.

Hope it is not long before we can meet up.

Thats good that you didnt get a lumbar puncture it sounds awful. I am happy to meet up whenever suits you, if I know in advance that I will be travelling into Glasgow I have a few quiet days before so im more able for it! Hopefully we can arrange it soon x Sharon x

Hi Shar It’s the southern general I’ve been attending since June last year and they have been great. My ms specialist is really understanding and the ms nurse is lovely too. Hopefully you won’t be waiting much longer, I was due to go on Thursday but specialist is sick so patiently waiting on an another appointment. Polly x

Hi Sharon

I would really like to meet up that would be great once I am feeling a bit stronger as walking is not so good just now.

I am probably a good bit older than you at 54 but if you don’t mind that then great.

I hope you get your appointment soon you will find them really good.

Please keep in touch if you want to send me a personal message that will be fine.

Thanks Polly, I hope so too! Im getting to the end of my patience now. Thats not good your appt was cancelled, I hope it is rescheduled soon xx

I am the same just now Anne, my pain is off the scale and my mobility is quite poor. The stress from my wonky eyes is definately making it worse!! I am 36 but it doesnt matter what age we all are, we have so much in common im sure we will enjoy having a wee chat and a coffee xx
