Hi, I just wondered if anyone takes Lactulose, If so how much do you take and how often and does your body rely on it over time. Sorry for going anon, thanks
hiya
i understand lactulose is a softner but i take senna as i need help to ‘get it out’.
i assume u have tried usual dietary changes too-oj,prunes etc. its trial and error but if lactulose doesnt work effectively there are other options.

When I was diagnosed with my MS, they thought the stress had also given me IBS. Doctor told me to take 2 spoonfuls of lactulose and three sennakot every night!! Didn’t make one blind bit of a difference!! Now I just make sure I drink enough water and exercise and do some careful planning if my tummy feels off
I think it works for some people and not for others.

I take 2 sachets of fybogel a day for my IBS. Also peppermint oil capsules for bloating. Early days but both seem to help me. Good luck.
I take Lactulose (diabetic one) to help things “get a move on.” Works well for me or did. New issues now that might take a little more than a sachet However as said is a softener…
I took it it didn’t make that much of a difference then I took modival ot something sachets. I don’t take them all the time just when I need to go x
I occasionally need to resort to either:
a) ‘Movicol’ - comes in sachets which contain a pre-measured dose (…lemon flavour).
b) ‘Bicarbinate of Soda’ (…or sometimes simply referred to as ‘baking soda’ - bought it as loose powder, so I put one heaped teaspoon in a glass of water (…quite salty!!)
No doubt there are plenty of other choices ?!
