Hi everyone !
My knee feels like it’s starting to give away when I walk. I’m sure this could be an actual knee issue and not necessarily an MS issue. Has anyone else had this be an MS issue ?
I guess I should go to the GP first, to rule out a structural knee problem ? Rather than assume it’s MS ?
And then if nothing is found wrong with my actual knee, then I should contact the Neuro or my Nurse ? What does everyone else do in these situations ?
I’m walking funny because it feels like it might give away to the side…
Your best bet is to see a physio, as they can identify the cause of the problem and suggest a programme of strengthening exercises. Hopefully, it will be an easy thing to put right, but knees are hugely complex and you need good advice.
Knee pain - NHS (www.nhs.uk)
I would talk to your GP who can refer you on for other investigation. You can slip a cartilidge easy enough. so i would go to GP then hopefully they will set your mind at ease, or refer you on.
Hello there,
I think your process of elimination is sound - I have intermittent knee pain (which kept me awake last night). As it fades away to negligent I attribute it to my MS but like you I wonder if there is a structural problem. When it was presented to the Practice Nurse at the surgery on an annual review (Pre - Covid) her approach was very much to rule things out so she referred me for an Ultrasound [normal result] and an X-ray which I haven’t had yet as I’m still very cautious about going into a hospital.
Have you considered approach you NHS Trust for some walking aids?
Good luck.
