Knee Pain

hello again everyone.

The weeks are slowly counting down until I see a neurologist for an initial exam.

Is anyone or did anyone experience knee pain? Is this a common symptom of MS?

It’s hard to describe the exact feeling and location, but numerous times each day it’s a sharp stabbing pain that only lasts a few seconds and repeats a couple times in quick succession. the pain is on the inside on the side of the right kneecap.

hi katina

you should explain how it feels to you.

my lovely neuro used to nod sympathetically at my weird descriptions.

the neuro doesn’t have ms and so relies on us to explain how it feels.

basically if it isn’t musculo skeletal it must be the central nervous system.

that doesn’t mean it is ms but the neuro is the person you must seek answers from.

good luck

Hi

The problem with MS is that it’s different for everyone. And the way I describe something might be completely different to the way you describe it, and yet the symptoms might be very similar.

As Carole said, the neurologist can only go by our various weird and wonderful descriptions of feelings and pains.

The knee pain in and of itself doesn’t mean either that you have or have not, got MS. The neurologist will take a full history, including all symptoms that might be connected. S/he will hopefully do a full neurological exam and then refer you for tests if they are warranted, those would likely include an MRI, but could also include blood tests, a lumber puncture (LP), and a visual evoked potential (VEP). Unless of course, judging from your symptoms and physical exam, the neuro doesn’t think that it’s MS or another neurological disorder.

Best of luck with it. Hopefully the time will go by quickly while you wait for the appointment.
