Kesimpta 1st dose

Hi all, due to take my Kesimpta 1st dose on Wednesday. Just wondering what changes people have made dealing with the increased infection risk etc?

I started kesimpta in October 2024. I stay away from friends/ family if they have colds etc. so far I’ve been clear.
I wish you well in starting kesimpta

Hi, I started Kesimpta in January 2024.
Following nurse’s advice, I keep away from people I know to be ill… if I can. And I wash my hands properly when I get the chance, as we were told to do when covid started. I carry and FFP2 mask for situations where I’m stuck eg on a really crowded bus with someone coughing at me.
Other than that though, I live life as normal. For me, that means frequent travel, crowded places, working in confined spaces… the lot. In fact today I worked in a small space with a colleague who said he had just come back from sick leave.
I think I do get slightly more colds and/or they last a bit longer, which can be really frustrating. But then, we have to live our lives… You’re on kesimpta indefinitely so you have to find an approach you can live with.
Hope your first dose goes ok. I had flu-like symptoms - paracetamol helped.

I live my life in fear of getting ill, very much like before I started Kesimpta!

I’ve yet to get rid of a cough that I had before I started (had my third dose on Tuesday). But the rest of my family also still have the cough

My youngest had difficulty breathing and a croup cough in the night and my eldest woke up with a burning throat and discomfort in his chest. There’s not much I can do to avoid my toddler coughing in my face but I’m hoping I’m not getting it. I just wash my hands a million times a day as usual and keep the place clean and go to parks outside rather than germ breeding grounds like indoor play centres!

But in general (touch wood) I feel lot better on it already than I did before. I think the general thing about it is that you might be more vulnerable, but you were vulnerable before. Every infection, virus etc will inevitably lead to flare up of ms symptoms and some can be very scary. Just be mindful of places you go to, think of it as living in Covid times. You wouldn’t visit people who are sick, you wouldn’t touch a door knob and then put your hand in your mouth and you wouldn’t eat something that could potentially give you food poisoning.

I hope treatment is going well for you so far. Was a rough first week for me but I am definitely on the up! I still spooned my toddler last night even though he’s ill because although I’m on Kesimpta I’m a mum and he is small but I am trying to not share water bottles etc with him today in hopes I can remain with just a cough and not another virus!

Take care, you’re on the right path
