Just need advice

I was diagnosed last may, first had symptoms in may 2014,i saw a neurologist last september he stated he would refer me to a colleague,i never received an appointment,i saw him again in march have now received an appt for August, since a bad cold i had 2 months ago i have suffered a tightness in my left hand side, last week i had surgery for a benign tumour in my head,i’m terrified ms symptoms will only get worse following surgery, went to gp who was to put it mildly useless, was offered diazepam 2mg and a ibuprofen,I’m desperate for urgent treatment what do i do?.

Sorry to hear you’re having such a hard time.

Do you have an ms nurse? If not you can locate your nearest one on this website under the ‘near me’ section and give them a call yourself. I agree you need some help so think this will be the best way, as tou say gp’s aren’t great at ms.

Hope you get something sorted soon.

Some suggestions:

  • try to see a different GP, most practices have more than one

  • phone your neurologists’ secretary and see if you can get your appointment brought forward

  • also, ask your neuros secretary what happened about the referral to someone else? (Find out who that was and if the referral ever got made, if so, phone their secretary)

  • as ssdd said, contact your MS nurse if you have one, if you don’t, is there a general neurology nurse who you can contact?

  • if you are having real pain and feel your need is truly urgent, phone 111 or go to A&E

  • speak to the secretary of whoever did your surgery last week for advice

All the best.

Sue
