Insurance grrr

Well I have income protection insurance , have been off work 8 months now, So I chase them today as I’ve heard nothing. So I tell them I have supplied all my sick notes, why the hold up? . There reply was " we are studying your case and we decide if you are fit to do your job " So what’s. The point of getting sick note from GP ? Rip off, springs to mind

Oh dear Gray. That is bad.

Don’t let them get away with trying to fob you off to same themselves money.

A sick note should be enough. If the GP says you are not ft for work then you are not fit for work.

I remember when my hubby was off work with arthritis the GP signed him off but his employers said that he was unfit to do his own job but they would give him light duties. The GP wasn’t having any of it, thank goodness.

Take care.

Hi Gray

Im off work at the moment also. I too have an income protection policy. It doesnt kick in until the 6 month and after 12 month, thats because im paid full pay for 6 months and after that on half pay for 6 months.

I have been off for 4 months now and had to advise them after 2 months that i was off sick and that i would have to make a claim. Your policy must state when your policy kicks in? . I have no time for insurance companies due L&G refusing to pay my critical illnes cover in 2010. Win my case after 3 years of fighting them! I must admit that my policy with Aviva and the person i have been dealing with have been excellent and i have been told they will pay out on my income protection when it starts to kick in. Put a bit of a faith back into insurance co again!

They didnt even contact my GP or consultant which is a first. What they said was that becaue i have MS i will no doubt be using this policy a lot throughtout my working life. I am off with Fatigue at the moment. Work are going to try and implement some reasonable adjustments to get me back. (That will be another story for later)
