Improved mobility during the night

Hi all,

I noticed dramatic improvement of my walking during the night (after 22:00-23:00)

Last few years, due to increased spasticity, weakness and fatigue I need a cane while walking.

During the day, walking more that 2-3 steps without the cane is hard and dangerous for me. During the during the night (after 22:00-23:00) everything is gone!!! Walking is improved DRAMATICALLY.

In more than one occasions, I was out until late (1-2 in the morning) and I forgot the cane, walked for more that 5 minutes before realising that I didn’t have the came.

Why is this happening? Why only at night? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thank you!

p.s. I don’t think it is related to the spasticity (colmifen) /fatigue (fampyra ) medication.

I sometimes leave my stick in a shop only realising when I leave the shop and start to feel vulnerable.

The shop is a 5 minute walk from home (fortunate as I have to go back for the stick).

After a night out (back in the times when I used to have nights out) I left it in a pub.

The day after I used to go back and retrace the pub crawl.

That’s not just another time, it’s another world!

I used to love nights out, i loved to dance - then as i got older and had children i would just sing and dance round the house - i dont even do that now! so sad ( at least i can still do my jerky walk )

Maybe because its cooler in the night? I always walk better in the winter.

Does having a drink coincide with these bouts of walking better? One of the first things my MS Nurse asked me was Did I enjoy a tipple! as people often noticed improved mobility after having a drink. Obviously too much to drink, as we all know, has the opposite effect.

Thanks. This happens during winter too that it’s cool (COLD) anyways…

Thanks though

I don’t think it has to do with alcohol but I’ll try that

Having a drink doesn’t hurt

Thanks !!
