I want to be able to wash my feet when I'm having a shower.

I cannot lift up my feet to wash them. I have a seat in the shower but even when sitting I struggle to lift my foot up high enough to wash it, the shower cubicle isn’t wide enough so need to know how to maneuver my foot and the soap. I bought a long handled foot brush with the intention of using it but haven’t had the confidence to even try it.

Not tried it in the shower but for other leg/foot lifting on occasion I’ve used a yoga strap to help lift my dodgy leg

I’ll have a look at yoga straps, can you give me an idea of where to look for one? (Amazon’s usually the first place I look.) If I see picture of one I’ll have better idea if it would work for me.

Thank you for suggesting it.

Jacqueline.

Hi Jacq, alternatively you can get something that sticks like a shower mat but is for feet only…

If you type in to google the following:-

Shower foot scrubber

You get lots of suggestions. Might be worth a look and don’t require bending.

Hi, I’ve seen those mats on “Amazon’s” Website and considered getting one, I already have a mat to put on the shower floor to stop me slipping when I enter and leave the shower (our bathroom’s quite small so that has to be left hanging on a rail over the entrance of the cubicle when not in use as I’m the only person that needs it) adding another mat would give me something to trip over which I do regularly but I’ll keep those mats for feet only in mind. I’ll read the customer reviews left on Amazon to help me make up my mind.

Thank you for your reply,
Jacqueline

This is a typical example but there are loads of Yoga Straps available. A tough cotton belt about 1.5" wide x 8’ long, just thread it under your leg(s) and pull up to assist your leg muscles.

Bless you, such a challenge and getting right accessories is not easy. There is such a plethora out there.

I did wonder if putting something else in to a confide space would be difficult. Perhaps the. Trying the yoga straps as suggested by GCCK is the best way to go.

Hope you find a solution soon.

You could try a leg lifter cost approximately £10 on the site that sells everything! If I put the name of site it will probably be removed but begins with A!

Hi Sue, I wonder which site that could be? ha ha

I’ll have a look, and thank you,

Jacq

Thank you @Sue84 - My turn to learn something! My suggestion of a yoga strap was a contrivance to achieve the same outcome as one of those proper leg lifter straps with a loop for your foot and a loop for your hand at the other end.

There are cheaper places than Amazon and they probably pay all their UK taxes… Here’s a search on the Living Made Easy (charity) site which provides a couple of sources.

Thank you, I’m sure I have something at home that can be used without having to buy something new. I used to do exercises at home daily and used to see a physiotherapist regularly too. I have made the mistake of not exercising as often as I used to, thinking I’ll start again soon, and if things were too difficult just giving up.

I have one of these foot scrubbers, its great. One foot at a time while I lean against the wall. It really feels like I’ve had the best foot massage afterwards. I would highly recommend at leat giving it a try.

In principle they look a good idea. When I was looking you can get them quite small so maybe an option if anyone is worried about tripping.

Some also were small enough to stick onto the tiles, so again might be an option. Perhaps sticking it low down on a tile then moving it up.

I can hear the cogs whirring, that is if you can bend… no easy solution, just suggestions. Well unless there is someone else that can do the sticking, partner/career.
