Shower struggle

I struggle to get out of the bathroom after a shower without dragging the bathroom mat with me, my feet always catch on the mat. Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid doing it. Thank you in advance for any replies.

I don’t shower in the evenings as my arms tire before I finish washing myself and my legs can tire to the point I want/need to sit down. I have a shower stool but shower cubicle isn’t that big and I’m forever bashing my elbows so don’t use it as much as I should.

For me it’s shower in the morning when I have the most energy. Maybe you can change when you shower like me? You could consider a shower stool. Got mine from occupational health.

Use a cork mat?

Hi Jacq
Extreme solution but we’re revamping our bathroom to turn it into a wet room.

Replacing the bath with a wet room shower area, with a former to ensure correct drainage. Am removing the current shower cubicle with a washbasin configured for seated height. Existing washbasin & WC although getting replaced will stay in roughly the original positions. Means I can do all my ablutions from a seated position - I’m not wheelchair bound as yet but my standing times are such that I need 3 goes to get everything done currently.

Is it worth you planning for similar?

There is a seat in our shower but I only use it when I wash my hair (every couple of days), I might change that to every time I shower, thank you for mentioning sitting down as it reminded me that the seat is there.

I’ll look into cork mats, I didn’t know there are such things.

As I hope to move to a different house it wouldn’t be practical to change things in the bathroom but, I’ll keep what you mentioned in mind if I need to change things in my new accommodation.

Thank you for replying to my query.
