Can intermittent and highly variable tingling, slight coldness and slight numbness in fingers (more so the fingertips), forearms, soles of the feet and lower legs be a sign of MS?
I’ve had something like this before, both in 2018 and 2020 - in each case the symptoms abated after a few weeks. I’ve had my current symptoms for nearly four weeks.
They do vary a fair bit, I have ‘good’ and ‘bad’ days. A few days ago the symptoms had all but vanished, yet for the past two days they’ve been aggravating me again.
Curiously enough things seem to improve a bit overnight, get worse during the day then ease off a bit during the evening. They can also improve with use, for example if I do some gardening and hence use my fingers a lot the symptoms do ease a bit.
The most notable affected areas are the fingertips, followed by the soles of the feet (with the latter my feet are very aware of the texture of the insoles of my shoes for example, which may sound weird … ).
I’ve seen the doctor and after checking for diabetes, testing vitamin B12 level, liver function, etc all seems ‘normal’. I’ve even done my own home testing of my glucose levels (with a good quality kit and meter bought from Amazon) and my glucose levels are fine after testing for a few days before and after eating.
It does worry me that I could have early MS symptoms but I’m aware that there are a number of other possibilities. My physiotherapist thinks that it’s my circulation, but I’m not convinced.
I’m due to see a neurologist privately in about three weeks.
Apologies to everyone for posting this if I don’t have MS, I just don’t know what else to do right now or who else to ask. It’s frustrating and worrying, particularly as an early diagnosis could be crucial.
Thanks.
