Hi everyone. I have not been diagnosed yet. But I’m so worried. Numb foot for coming on three weeks. Numb fingers and thumbs in both hands, on and off, but getting worse. My other foot has been half numb for months. What does this mean? Might I have lesions affecting all four limbs?? I’m just dreading what might happen, I feel like I’m especially unlucky having everything affected right from the outset, I had no symptoms at all before February and now I feel like no part of me is spared. Is this really unusual to get a bit of numbness everywhere at the same time???
Can I ask, have you consulted your GP about your symptoms?
hiya, oh yes, the GP referred me to neurology a while ago so to be honest I just don’t think there’s anything else they will do. Having said that I ‘reminded’ them yesterday about all this and they sent me to A&E. The doctor at A&E said it sounds like MS but also noted I’m already in the pipeline to see a neurologist.
Yes, it’s really hard to get through this limbo period where you don’t know what is going on.
You should be reassured that you are doing the right thing. Your symptoms could be MS but could also be lots of other things. The neurologist may decide to ask for a brain scan and/or blood tests to check for other things. I’d guess you are unlikely to get a diagnosis at your first neurology appointment, especially if they haven’t got brain scans to look at.
If it is MS, your symptoms may well fluctuate or gradually improve. There is great variation between people with MS, so what is normal for one person may not be for someone else.
Can you develop some strategies to keep up your spirits in the meantime? What would help to distract you from all this?
