hello,
i have had an MRI that says i have lesions. This is the 1st episode i’ve had, my symptoms are numb on my right side mainly affecting my right hand. I can do gross motor skills i.e. picking up and pouring a kettle, but my fine motor skills are bad, i.e. writing etc. Thankfully i’m not in pain and most of my day to day tasks are not affected.
I’ve had it for about a month, my gp first made ouy that it would only take a couple of weeks to come back. looking at a few posts it looks like the average is 6 weeks, but i was wondering what is the longest people have experienced and does longer = worse.
If i do develop MS i think i’m going to struggle with the constant unknowns…
I do have a neurologist appointment in the pipeline.
Thanking you in advanced, and a happy new year!
I’m 8 months into this relapse Certainly a lot better than I was but it’s still there Gray
Everyone is different I’m afraid. I’ve heard that it can take weeks or months. My hands were badly affected (worse than yours) and they have improved but are not nearly back to normal. My first episode was in August. This doesn’t mean that you will be the same as us though, we all ‘rewire’ at different speeds. Hope you recover soon.
Just shows how varied MS can be from person to person.
My Last relapse (1st one) lasted 6 Months - where i got to a point i couldnt grip a hairbrush to comb my hair. Im currently riding along a current relapse and i’m now 2 and a half months in (not the same symptoms as last one), although hoping this one doesnt last 6 months (fingers crossed)
I have only recently been offically diagnosed - when i had my 2nd ever relapse (2 and half months ago) although its not something anyone would want, a part of me feels relief, like i now know… and i can now start to change my lifestyle, start treatments and manage myself as best as possible - and i am now beginning to know my limits physically and mentally… and understand why i wasnt able to do certain things before.
My MS Nurse said to me when a relapse appears - generally symptoms will get worse on a raising scale until finally it evens out… your symptoms stick around a while with no changes, then gradually start getting better and better. (i think im at the evens out part of my relapse at mo)
all the best - keep us posted.
