Hospital appointment with Frazer

Its been a lovely sunny day in Frodsham. The spring air and the longer nights are making me feel better. Today we left Lee tiling the kitchen floor and Christine my Carer took me and Frazer to the Countess of Chester for my appointment. Frazer loves going to the hospital, its as if he knows that everyone loves him…from the receptionist on the desk and all of the doctors but especially the other patients its almost as if the dreariness of their hospital appointments or any anxiety they may be facing is lifted by seeing him. And of course I feel a million dollars having him by my side hes so intuitive and knows when to nudge me with his nose and just having him with me makes me feel so much calmer.

Frazer isn’t sure what botex in the bladder will do for me neither am i , im still thinking about it but he’s just happy to sit on his blanket and nod his head at the right time.

What will botex in the bladder do? Does anyone have any advice.

Michelle and Frazer xx

Please anyone have you had botox in the bladder or am I alone with this ? I am worried about going ahead with it as I’ve heard bad reports too but I’m hardly sleeping at night I’m up at least 10 times a night every night despite being on medication. I only included Frazer in the message to lighten it he did come with me and was a big help but id really like advise from someone who has had the procedure or is considering it. Michelle sent from my phone .

Sorry, just seen this now.

I’ve had botox in my bladder 3 times and am due my 4th soon.

It’s excellent, changed my life completely. I do ISC around 9pm and don’t need to go again until 8am, no getting up in the night at all. No leakages, no urgency just doing ISC around 5 -6 times a day.

I’ll send you a message later on as it’s difficult typing with my dog (Fudge, a very sleepy cockapoo)

Thanks Sarah. Is isc mean using a catheter? I’ve never used one before but have read that often this is necessary after Botox I’m not against this if it helps but still anxious about the procedure I had a bad reaction to anaesthetic a few years ago so I will be having a local. Have you had the procedure done by local? Does it get rid of the bladder spasms ? I have a terrible urgency all night. Thanks for your reply I’m sorry this is written from my phone and doesn’t leave spaces. Michelle x

Just to check, as i may have forgotten…Do you have an spc Shell?

I’m asking with you saying how many times you have to get up in the night.

My life with bladder urgency and retention and accidents was a nightmare before my spc .

But Botox may be the answer to your problems now.

Hi Polly. i don’t have a spc. Ive learned to put up with my bladder problems they have slowly got worse over the last few years ive had a commode in my room for the last 3 years. Im not incontinent unless i sneeze but the urgency and spasms are awful its as if i cant empty and im desperate even if it only a dribble. Im slightly better in the day when im distracted but i always need to know where theres a loo and i get worried on long car journeys. im on Betmiga and was on something called vessa care but cant tolerate Vessa care so have stopped. Im hoping Botox might make a difference.

I was offered Botox for my bladder but I was none to keen on the idea! I’m glad I didn’t have it. I did self catheterize for a while but it didn’t stop my constant night time trips to the loo so I stopped it. My bladder is now virtually normal thanks to LDN and then a further improvement came with biotin.

Good luck if you do go ahead Michelle, I was told at the time that you have to be able to self catheterize if you do go ahead, let us know how you get on.

Take care,

Nina

Thanks Nina, it’s always helpful to get advice from people going through similar. What made you decide against Botox ? Michelle x

Hi Michelle

Cant help with your Question on Botox, but wish you all the best whatever you decide.

Hi Michelle

It was very new when I was offered it and I just didn’t fancy the idea of so many injections into my bladder…that’s not to say that an awful lot of people have since benefited enormously from it…I’d hate to put you off, it was just my thoughts at the time. I was also told it could mean self catherterizing all the time but as I said it was very new then and my neuro didn’t really know if it would definitely mean self catherterizing every time I needed to go to the loo. I might have felt differently about it had it been more widely used at the time.

Whatever you decide I wish you all the very best and I hope you’ll let us know how you get on.

Take Care of yourself and the lovely Frazer!
