I actually got diagnosed yesterday, so I guess today is the first day of officially having a chronic condition?
This is following a year of constant “it’s all in your head” by several GPs.
Some random information about me:
I’m currently job hunting
I live in Glasgow
I’m 26
I like lifting heavy weights but have stopped squatting because I’m scared I fall over.
I was originally born in Colombia.
I got diagnosed yesterday too, your experience sounds very similar to mine as I also had several GPs telling me it was my anxiety or mental health as though I had cried myself numb! It’s taken me 4 years to have someone finally get me an MRI, its been a journey but i finally feel like I can advocate for myself a bit better.
I’m also 26, I’m a rock climber, indoor and out, and did illustration at uni so all things creative too.
As you have found, GPs are not too knowledgeable on MS, but thankfully Neurologists and MS nurses are specialists and are usually pretty damn good (in my experience).
Many of us here have lived with MS for some time, so you can usually get good advice on the forum, discuss symptoms, compare notes etc.
