Hi guys, a bit of a question on a subject I'm not a fan of

I’m currently on ESA and awaiting an appointment from ATOS (good luck to myself with that) and sweating on them cos I’ve heard they aren’t too reliable on actually seeing something wrong with a person, anyway, being on benefits isn’t exactly how I planned my life out but MS throws these things at us, and me and my missus are hoping to move in together soon, the question, and believe me I’m asking this through gritted teeth, is while I’m still under investigation for my bladder thing, are there any other benefits other than ESA I’d be eligable for?

Thanks so much

Dave

Hi Dave

Could you apply for DLA or I think its called PIP now. As you can see I get very confused by benefits, they keep changing them, but would be worth asking your local CAB.

Sorry thats not much help, someone else will be along later I am sure.

Hey Pat

I’ll look into it, there’s really not alot I can do at the moment with bladder urgency, a dodgy left eye and the leg thing haha, so it is a bit of a no brainer, like everyone else though I’m sure it’s not whats wanted. Bit annoying but you gotta get on with it! I hope you’re ok?

Hi Dave you can apply for PIP get it in fast but dont expect an answer for a while as ATOS are 6 months behind with new claims, im still waiting for my assessment from November 2013 and have been told that there dealing with claims from august

Hi Dave, There is a very good benefit site that can help you. Try as I might I can’t recall the name…well, it is 2 am!! Pat, aka snow leopard, has posted about it several times, hopefully she will be along, at a more sensible hour, to give you the details but I do know they would be your best bet if you decide to apply for PIP. Best wishes, Nina x

Hi Dave Well I hope I can help with your enquiry as I have been thought it myself lately. I’m get ESA, PIP top rate ( though it took a long while) Blue Badge,£135.00 towards heating per year, need to speak to your supplier, half off road fund licence, discount on your council tax just call your local council.we are now trying to get help with the interest on our mortgage, filled in forms see how long that takes. If I can think of any thing else will let you know. Good luck and try for any thing and everything. All the best Deborah

Hi Dave, the site that Nina refers to is ‘Benefits and Work’. There’s an annual subscription of about £20 but believe me it’s worth every penny. They have step-by-step guides to all benefit applications, appeal processes etc… written by lawyers who are benefit experts. I wouldn’t consider applying for a benefit without their guides. They also have a very good member forum so you can ask about something specific … some very knowledgable people on there! Best of luck… btw… I think PIP is stil only in some areas and that it’s still DLA in others… not too sure, Pat xx
